Music and Lyrics in Bangkok
hi bravadon, i'm surprised the movie even made it to bangkok, thailand.. as they are very strict with any hint or signs of abomination to their Buddhist religion.
when i saw it [which is in singapore] on dvd, i thought the movie wld hv been banned in bangkok.. so i did a web search to find out if that were true.. thanks to your blog on this.. now i know..
well, here's what was pixelated in the First round.. the male dancers' costumes were similar to those of buddhist monks.
anyway, i'm glad the movie made it there.
thanks for your comment.

I assume Hugh Grant still plays the same type of character he always plays in his movies?
It annoys me quite a bit, especially when the wife makes me sit in front of them...

Cute and you can't go wrong with Drew. I will wait for it to be cheaper than NR price.
Extremely adorable movie and can't wait for the DVD

Medicore enterteinment. Stuffed quickly to DVD. A bomb for the ages
I saw this in Bangkok, Thailand and surprisingly enjoyed it. I did have VERY low expectations mind you. Drew and Hugh do have good chemistry. I won't be buying it though.
For those who have seen it I have a question please:
The Thai censors annoyingly pixelated 3 scenes. The second was during the pop singer showing Hugh and Drew what she will do with the song and I understand a Buddha statue was pixelated, the last I understand a Buddha statue is on stage during the finale (particularly annoying as it's huge and almost ruins the entire scene).
But the first I've not been able to find out. It's during the first time Hugh and his manager meet the female pop singer and the male dancers shirts are pixelated. I presume because some offensive (to the Thai censors) words were written on it.
Any ideas? Thanks

Sweet Cover. Although I'm not much a fan of Drew. This movie is lighthearted and sweet, so considered this bougth!
I really liked the soundtrack of this film so I might pick it up when it's on sale or previously viewed.
For what it was, I liked it. $9.99 bin at Blockbuster.
Pop went my patience...
"POP! goes my heaaarrtt"
I can't wait for this one.
This is fast!
This was released on Valentine's day, wasn't it?
Good thing Warner Brothers used the one-sheet for the cover art.

this was incredibly cute and funny, i will pick it up.
Finally, Warner's ditched the monkeys who design the custom DVD art and actually used the excellent one-sheet instead for this movie. Heard good things about it, may rent it.
Dang that was quick. This came out on Valentine's Day, didn't it?
My future sister-in-law saw this and enjoyed it. I never cared for either actor so I will most likely pass on this one.
I do like the cover art though. It almost makes me wanna watch it...

Synopsis:
Quote: : Alex Fletcher (HUGH GRANT) is a washed-up 80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning pop diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics...and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Enter Sophie Fisher (DREW BARRYMORE), Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship with the newly famous novelist Sloan Cates (CAMPBELL SCOTT), Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano and under it, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears and the music if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.
