LOVED this. Cover's nice, but VERY busy--way too much text, IMO.

P.S Kinda sucks that The Weistein Company is not no longer doing Blu-ray's and Sony got the rights. That usually means ONLY English and French language tracks. Ugh!
The Weinsteins negotiated with Sony to release their movies on DVD and Blu-ray, as a way of saving money from releasing it themselves. According to DVD Times, there will only be English audio and subtitles on the DVD and Blu (just like Sony did for TWC's "Halloween 2"
.

Federico Fellini's 8½ is among my favorites of all-time. While this is not a remake per se, it's still massively disappointing. Cotillard and Cruz are the best things in this, Nicole Kidman gave a completely flat and lifeless performance.
I REALLY dislike 8 1/2 but this looked pretty good. Will check out

So that means Sony's distributing A Single Man on DVD?
S * * t. There goes my hopes of the trailer being included on the DVD/Blu-Ray.

Yes. Sony's deal with TWC/Dimension extends to all of their future releases (Hoodwinked 2, Youth in Revolt and The Road). If "Scream 4" actually makes it to production this year, it'll also be part of the lineup released by Sony on DVD and Blu-ray.

That effin blows! If its a matter of saving money, then they should just give in just like Miramax did! It sucks that Sony likes to release their films with only 1 or 2 options of multi-language tracks. We know Sony is not the best at producing Blu-rays. The win goes to Disney and Universal.

Decent cover art.

Ruined by more writing than you find on the back of the average DVD cover. Still, it's better than a bunch of photoshopped floating heads I suppose.

I love that cover. And, I don't mind the busy artwork, becuase, unlike some busy artworks, this one is for a reason. It's call marketing. I mean, showing that it was nominated for 9 major awards and saying that it's from the director of Chicago, not to mention pics of the beautiful cast, it'll def. help to sell this movie. And, actually, the cover is one of the reasons why I might actually blind buy the blu ray.
Didn't see it but will rent for my family.

Oh no, not the original language track! Heavens, who will save us?

No need to be sarcastic though. I only mean that Sony likes to disregard Spanish language tracks or subtitles.

Thank the GODS this movie wasn't more successful.
i like the concept of the art but I think they should move both nomination announcements to the top side by side and move the other text to the bottom so the picture is bigger
i made a quick mock up to show you what i mean. kind of like the "precious" blu ray

As a big fan of 8 1/2, I must say that this really was an awful movie. But I really enjoyed it, which I guess is all that really matters in the end. Now I know that these girls are better on the eyes, but where's Judi Dench and Sophia Lauren?

Which has me wondering, when the hell is The Road getting released on Blu?

Decent cover art, but yeah, too much text. Glad they included Fergie-- even if she didn't 'act' per se, her number was by far the most stimulating scene of this dreck.
The movie itself was phony, unspectacular and incredibly shallow. Nicole Kidman has officially been replaced by a waxwork version of herself. Kate Hudson walks in the movie, shakes her ta-ta's, and leaves. Sophia Loren looks like she might fall apart at any moment. Daniel Day-Lewis is great when he acts, but when he sings, he's a completely different character. Penelope Cruz is confident with her sexuality and her number was decent, but her performance lacked depth. Judi Dench was quite alright.
Basically, the only mind-blowing performance was Marion Cotillard's. SHE brought the emotional pinch the film badly needed.
I had read about all the bad buzz around this film, and figured it couldn't be all that right because the trailer looked so damn great-- boy, was I wrong. Oh boy.
Also : the opening number is one of the worst musical numbers ever filmed. The film barely lifts itself up from that stumble.

Very Very excited for this one. My favorite movie of 2009, probably. The music was fabulous and so was the acting and the set design, and the costumes, all perfect. Wish the DVD came with more extras, including the deleted musical numbers we heard so much about, but whatever. I love the cover, I think they did a good job with it.

Love your mockup.
Really enjoyed this film, though it is flawed. Loved the musical numbers and cast, will pick this one up, though probably on sale!!
Clears the cover up way more than one would expect with such a minor change.

I agree with Dogville...enjoyable but flawed. Since it references the look & style of Fellini and other Italian films of the late 50s/early 60s, I think it's more entertaining for film history lovers than most others.
I like the cover, don't really have a problem with it. I've just never understood why they used that awful font for the title.
Well, I'd like to see the specs/cover art for The Road.
Day one Blu-ray purchase for me. Daniel Day-Lewis amongst the likes of lovely ladies such as Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Fergie, and Kate Hudson? Who could ask for anything more than that?! :-D
Oh thank god - Sony is releasing A SINGLE MAN on DVD. Then it won't be a Blockbuster Exclusive and will be more widely available. Can't wait for that one.
Will rent NINE.
Will rent NINE.
I've never seen this before, enjoyed Chicago so I will check this out either by renting or a blind buy.
