I paid to see One Missed Call during its theatrical run, because I liked the original Japanese version. Boy, what a mistake that was on my part. It made me want to rip my seat out of the floor and throw it at the screen. That awful remake of Pulse looks like an epic by comparison.
"The Grudge" remake (in it's 'unrated' director's cut form) was very good. A perfect way to craft a Western remake..
An American lead, a bigger budget for FX, mostly in English, but with a large Japanese cast and the same crew and director.
I preferred it (in it's uncut form) to the Japanese original actually.
That is the only American re-make (except for "The Departed", which pissed on the overrated tedium of "Infernal Affairs"
I have seen that is better though.

I actually liked it for exactly what it was an hour and a half long Boost Mobile comercial with hot people!
Heard this movie was terrible.
On the other hand, that is a really great, creepy poster. They did the right thing by sticking with it for the cover art.

Makes me want to make sure I return my wifes calls when I miss them
Yeah but that was before Toshiba announced HD-DVD was no more. You think they would have some sense to stop production on a format that will no longer exist 2 Months before May.

That wasn't months ago. It was just last month, and they said they'd keep making them up until May.

filmmaking by blind people. that what this forgettable film felt like.
I'd like to know who said it first, but they said it best:
"Full Screen is a drool cup for the artistically ignorant."
Full Screen is still being produced for the mouth-breathers that do the majority of their shopping at Wal-Mart. I'll go to Wal-Mart to sometimes pick up the exclusives that are released alongside new releases, the bonus discs, but they're always paired with a Full Screen version of the film it accompanies. I'll usually buy the pack, go home and take out the bonus disc, then return the Full Screen version. Always works. If Blu-ray ever were to replace SD entirely, there will be Full Screen releases just for Wal-Mart, not a doubt in my mind.
And pity the poor schlubs that work in the Wal-Mart video section that actually know a thing or two. I've talked to a few of these damned souls that are daily on the verge of mass mayhem when one of the knuckle-draggers walks up and shouts, "What do you mean this isn't available in Full Screen?! I gotta watch this on my 30-year-old-TV with black bars on the screen?! Gawd!"

looks like a turd! but i'd rather watch that then this movie...
I heard the movie is a absolute insult to the original, but Ana Claudia Talancon is HOT, HOT, HOT!
This Movie Is The Those Who Are Not Tried of sh*tty Pg-13 predictable asian Remakes...Then this movie is for you!!!
I wish they'd gone with the tagline in the ads. "Scream and scream again. You just missed a call." I laughed every time I read it.

Well this is a horror movie, so it doesn't seem a fullscreen version is needed. I am not against movies coming out in fullscreen and widescreen, just not on the same disc.
Well, it's better than just a foolscreen release (which Warners did with a lot of movies in their earlier DVD phase), but this is funny in that it doesn't deserve a flipper disc presentation.
And some of their more recent ones like Grind too from 2004. That was only in foolscreen (and still is). Ace Venture was only in foolscreen for a while and I don't know if they did something about it.

It seems pretty foolish to provide a pan-n-scan version alongside the 1.85:1 ratio of the film for those who want it.
Makes me wish the WB would stop fooling around and just give us a widescreen-only release of this dud. They did it for "The Invasion" and "A Sound of Thunder", so what gives?

No for me.

IMO I tend to find them boring as few add anything and I've seen it all before, many times.
Asians still do this type of horror best. I remember watching the Ringu remake, it was just awful. The sequal was much better, but still why bother? The original is already so good.
Likewise Americans do action films so well, few other countries can compare. Hong Kong is also very good at it but there action films are distinctly different.

Wow. WB went as low as to release this movie? I thought the movie was made by Screen Gems, Fox Atomic, Dimension, maybe even The Asylum (makers of Transmorphers, Snakes on a Train and I Am Omega) or any one of those studios that do lame horror movies like this.
haha Cinque, nice touch!

Heard this SUCKED!
so is this the first movie to get a zero percent on Rotten tomatoes?
I will definitely pass on this. I hope Hollywood leaves all of Takashi Miike's other films alone. I do not want to see an American version of Audition, Visitor Q, Ichi the Killer, or the various other films he's done. But especially not those three.
Why is everybody so cruel. I liked One missed call. Probably not buying but it's worth a rental.
Considering that all the American remakes of Asian horror I've seen has so far been woeful I'm not expecting much. Get some new ideas Hollywood instead of nicking other peoples.
One Missed Movie.
If you want to see OMC, watch it when it came out 5 years ago...although I recommend you skip it entirely, this movie (and this dog turd remake)is terrible.
i heard this was terrible. What no unrated cut? psh haha
both this and the eye remake sucked watch the originals, they are way better
Looked bad. Will stay away from it for sure.

This was a terrible movie. Some parts were pretty scary (and the whole finale scene at the hospital was very intense) but the rest was mind numbingly stupid.

Very boring movie and a disgrace to all film making ever done.
This was one of the worst I've seen in some time. On a lark I picked up the original Japanese and it's sequel as they were on sale, can't imagine the original is much worse than the remake.
I will never watch this or the original. Such boring tripe. Can't believe they're actually wasting discs on high-def versions.
Horrible tag-line. I'm gonna automatically ignore it on that point!
