It not only stars Eric Dane but it stars Eric Dane naked. The nudity in the movie makes me laugh for some reason.
This isn't even a sequel really, it was a German film retitled to cash in on that forgettable film.
i'll give this a try... what else?? :S
Oh my god how fuc*ing stupid. Anyone who buys this is one or all of 3 things.
Retarded.
Poor/No Taste.
Has OCD and needs to buy every single movie.

Based on a true story........that never happened.
Based on the short story "Adrift" by Koji Suzuki, in the Novel "Dark Water".
Never saw the original "Open Water" and I won't see this either.
I enjoyed Open Water so I'll give this a shot.
Hmm...don't care to see it and have never seen the original.
Like someone else said, this isn't a sequel, it's an entirely seperate film which has just been renamed. As a result it may not do as well as what it should because people (many on here) believe that this is a sequel.
It's amazing, make an unrelated sequel to a movie that was absolutely terrible. . .

Ha-ha! Cash-in!

This movie doesn't even have any sharks.

You're forgetting the 4th reason: buying it out of spite for threads like this.

I pass
What a terrible cover. It reeks of low budget dreck. I saw the first one and expected to enjoy it, but found it quite boring and by the time the movie's suspense kicked up, it ended abruptly. I know some really liked it, but it just didn't do it for me. Not gonna even bother with this one. Here's hoping the Steve Alten penned "Meg" (directed by <unfortunately> Jan De Bont) will fill in the void of great killer shark movies that we have been experiencing since the cheesy, albeit very enjoyable "Deep Blue Sea" surfaced. Anyone else ever read those books? I'd highly reccomend em', they are exciting reads.
Trust, the characters ended up in their predicament due something so FRIGGIN STUPID, they DESERVED to die!

The "Based On True Events" and "Inspired By A True Story" tags are getting rediculous. Almost every movie nowdays is inspired or based on something true. I thought film was a fictional medium, that's why we have documentaries. Where the hell is all the originality?
However, I do appreciate that they put the side effects of watching this film on the cover.
1. Fatigue
2. Hypothermia
3. Death

looks a little too SCI FI CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE ish to me, lol
I hate, absolutely HATED the first Open Water. So, it's a no for me. Open Water 1 can be told in one sentence. "Two people dive in an ocean, get forgotten and left, and scream for 60 minutes." There.

I suppose, then, one could argue that everything has been said in fiction and everything else is a variation on a common theme dating back to before Alexander the Great.
If you thought film was a fictional medium, think again. The line between documentary and fiction has been blurred since before you and I were born.
This is an era of post-modernism. Get used to it.

The first was an average 'sad' movie, but it's more entertaining watching any of the Discovery channels.

So this movie is related to Open Water in name only and you're skipping it. It's like saying You hated Jaws and so won't be watching Piranha! Sad. I HATED the 'first' movie too but found this pretty watchable. I don't know how well it stuck to the facts though as I'm not familiar with the story behind it.

Pass. Isn't the only reason it's getting a DTV release is because it stars Eric Dane (or "Dr. McSteamy" for those "Grey's Anatomy" fans). And it just seems like a pointless retread of the first film anyway.
