Further Details:
Early details have emerged on DVD ($28.98) and Blu-ray ($35.99) releases of Orphan which stars Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard. Each will be available to own from the 27th October. The only extra material on the DVD release will be additional scenes and an alternate ending. The Blu-ray release will include those scenes, along with a Mama's Little Devils: Bad Seeds, Evil Kids and Orphan featurette, and a digital copy of the film. We've attached our first look at the official package artwork below:

Believe it or not, it's not sarcasm. The film is GENUINELY GREAT. If you consider CORALINE A horror movie, then this film is the second best horror movie of this year. It's original and suspenseful, things many horror movies lack these days. Roger Ebert gave the film a 3.5/4. Also, I don't know what's wrong with House of Wax. I actually think it's one of the best slashers ever made.

They have to stop with that Digital Copy bulls**t. They charge extra for something they dont even know if you'll use. They should just like make it a separate thing. I can understand including the Dvd, but why the DD. I assume this will be $30.

Believe it or not, the movie is that good. What essentially makes the movie stand out is it tackles on a cliched script and turns it into an original and unique one. House of Wax and Orphan are both made by Serra, but are completely different. However, I enjoyed both of his films. Just don't let the first 20 minutes bother you, and the movie will be awesome. It's a fun experience, if you give it a chance.

Im confuse. When will this movie come out on DVD in the US? OCTOVER or NOVEMBER? they have 2 different days. HELP ME OUT HERE!

And there was NOTHING AWFUL about this movie. PPL always want to COMPLAIN about REMAKES and DUMB MOVIES but when we have something ORIGINAL and GOOD like "ORPHAN or STRANGERS" ppl go all bananas and want to start a damn boycott about it and S**T. BEST MOVIE EVER, of THE YEAR! Period...

I'm glad Warners is abandoning the full-screen s**t for this release. Maybe "Harry Potter" and "The Hangover" will get OAR-only releases by the time they leave theaters...

Exactly! The twist is original, and unless you read it online before seeing it you did NOT see it coming. I don't know how it would be possible.

Spoiler A young girl repetitively bashes a nun with a hammer (blood on her head is visible and the bashing is present also). A young girl stabs a man numerous times in the abdomen with a knife (blood is visible and the stabs are present). A young girl throws a rock at a dead pigeon (the actions and blood are both seen). This was good and a lot better than i expected. I liked a lot of this summers horror/thrillers(drag me to hell, collector and perfect getaway) HATED H2 though. I am not sure if ill buy this but for sure rent it to see the features

comparing it to the Sixth Sense seems weird. i mean this is a straight up horror movie while Sixth Sense was more a drama than anything else. But based on comments here, this has a twist ending so i guess thats their justification for the compairison.

Even though I am anxious for the release, I am disappointed in the extras. For those wondering, I am a BD collector, but even the Blu-ray extras are lacking. Just additional scenes, an alternate ending, and a Featurette? That's a rip-off if you're paying $25 or more for the BD. I guess WB redeemed themselves, because DVD collectors were upset with the lack of extras, now they have 80% of the BD extras. Oh and how can I forget, the inevitable digital copy? I just wish that more effort would go into the release. I want more bang for my buck. Nevertheless, I will still buy if I have enough money.

The Orphan was one of the most suspensful films I've seen in a long while. In fact, I don't think I've ever been as tense as I was watching that movie. I'll definitely buy it, maybe when it's 4 for 20 DVD or 2 for 25 Blu at Blockbuster.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't a tag on the cover. I thought the same thing when I first saw it and I didn't know why they'd put that there. However, when you look at it, it's not actually on the dvd cover it's slightly larger and before it. I think it was just put their on the poster but it won't actually be on the case. I may be wrong but do you see what I mean? I think when we get the High-Res cover it won't be there. At least hopefully not that huge!

Do we really need a gigantic "Includes Chilling Alternate Ending!" tag on the side? Cover works better without it.

Believe it or not, this is one of the best films of the year (it's my #2). A very well-crafted suspense film with a couple of great performances (Furhman and Farmiga are terrific) and a delicious, wicked sense of humor. It made me laugh a lot (not at it, with it) and was one of the most fun times I've had at the movies all year (along with Drag Me To Hell). This is a must buy!

The biggest Horror/Suspense shocker of the year. It was actually very good. I've talked about it before, and I still think Isabelle Furhman's performance deserves some slight recognition in a Best Supporting Actress nomination on this years Academy Awards, she is only 12 years old and to overcome a performance like that, deserves all attention and recognition.

It's a good movie, but it just kinda drags in the middle. Not sure I'd buy it. Fuhrman was spectacular, as was Farmiga, Sarsgaard didn't really do anything until near the end.

i don't know. it was a pretty hokey movie down the line, but definitely entertaining. some horrific moments and an ending twist so damn looney it has to be seen to be believed... but anyway. maybe a 2,5/5. not too bad.

The BEST horror and one of the most surprising movies of this year!!! I loved the movie! Excellent from the cast all around, INCLUDING the kids! I believe Isabelle Fuhrman should get an Oscar nomination for her role. The film has SUSPENSE, which a lot of horror movies lack these days. It's finally great to see an original and GOOD horror film. We only see movies like these come out once in every 10 years so people, buy it when it comes out. I know I will! 8/10
