I never liked horror movies, I think they're too predictable, but DAMN! $56 million in the first weekend?! I still haven't seen the first two Paranormal Activities! But I gotta admit, this actually looked interesting and terrifying.

Because one key plot point wasn't even mentioned from "Paranormal Activity 2," I can see at least two more needless sequels already in production.
I was exactly like you stevepulaski. On the first sitting, I completely despised it and thought it was a disgrace to the PA saga and thought it was absolute boring, unscary trash. However, I saw it a second time and I actually liked it. It just takes some getting used to. Don't worry, my friends and I shared the same philosophy when watching PA3.

I hated the 1st movie because of how cheap it was (only liked Katie Featherston)
Liked the 2nd one more and it had a little more money in it.
The second is a prequel to the first and this one is a prequel to the second. They go backwards in terms of chronology.
I saw the first and found it to be a bit boring so I never checked out any more of them. Maybe when all 3 are on netflix instant I will give them a watch again but I can't say I am any more interested then that in these movies.

In my opinion, I like all three and would view them as a trilogy. However, since your opinion differs, I'm gonna say this: The third is much closer to the first in terms of atmosphere and setup than it is to the second, yet it's entirely different on its own. Give it a rent. But don't be surprised if you despise it on the first viewing. I did but then I saw it again and liked it MUCH better the second time around.

What's scary isn't definitive: it's subjective, different things scare different people. So, any argument over how many good scares were in a movie will be totally fruitless. As will implying that any who disagree on the subject should be set on fire.

Yeah, only 2 decent scares...that's why it got positive reviews and was a box office hit. Just saying.

hey dj!
I disagree. I really like all three "Paranormal Activity" films and I feel as its the only modern horror trilogy that's consistently good. However, I see how people can detest the second. It's very similar to the structure of the original and it feels more "downsized" in a sense. But to each their own =)

OMFG. The scenes in the trailer didn't make it in the movie! Oh, the horror! Now the scares in the film will be unpredictable and more effective since we don't see them coming. Yeah, I didn't give a sheet that the scenes in the trailer didn't make it in the film. You know why? Because they were cheesy, amateurish, and downright bad. Anyone saying otherwise should be burned on a stick. The actual scares in the film were scary, effective, and creative. I was entertained through and through. 8/10
This one was alright. Enjoyable enough fro me to buy it.
And I quite like the false advertising, to be honest. It's not ideal, but its preferable to showing the whole movie in the trailer.

I hated the first one because the characters were annoying, nothing was really going on and the ending was just so anti-climatic but I thought the second one was miles better than the first one. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible like the first one was (IMO). This one looked good from the trailers but since I kept hearing that several scenes from the trailer didn't even make it into the film (if it wasn't for the trailer I wouldn't even be interested in this), I'll just rent it.
I hope these stop soon, enough of these films, they're enough already. This trailer had several scenes not in the film.
, wonder if they'll be on the disc

Loved this movie! By far the best and scariest movie out of the whole franchise. I'm surprised Paramount hasn't announced a 4th film yet...
Day one buy for me.
Really enjoyed this movie. Thought some of the camera shots were quite creative. Will be picking up this movie first day.
