. . . not to mention the omission of "The Return of the Pink Panther," whose rights are sadly not owned by MGM.
All this seems a bit much; without Peter Sellers, there simply IS no Pink Panther! (Cartoons aside, obviously.) But it looks like the bees' knees for collectors.

Blah! I would want this but I already own the previous set of Pink Panther cartoons and the movie set and a guide to the Pink Panther. While this includes some stuff I don't own i can't see me purchasing it. Hey i am a fan of Pink Panther but I can't go that far for the pink one.
where are the out-takes I have seen on TV there very funny?
Tempting, but I think I'll stick with the current DVD set I already own (the one that looks like they stole the packaging idea from a Day Runner catalog!)...
Especially since it looks like there won't even be a "Blu" Panther option...
Thanks, but no thanks....

Hey! That's SellErs! Please correct!
I'm there!
yeah...um...I've already got the movie set (which omits the unnecessary non-Sellers), the cartoon set and the ant and the aardvark. Roughly $50 for all of those. No need for this set here.
Really wary of it in general actually--looks like another c**ppy binder affair (see: MASH), plus the aforementioned omissions of Return (for obvious and uncontrollable reasons, as was ALSO mentioned).
The 60 minutes of footage SE for PP being exclusive is pretty damn lame though.

It looks like it should be fuzzy.
I'd like to see an expanded version of the series retrospective doco on the first box set. It gives 3/4s of it's running time to the first films, then glosses over the rest. A more thorough retrospective would make this set a must-buy for me.
did they really have to include the steve martin version?
ughhhh!
ughhhh!
Oh why include the abismal 2006 movie? A great set apart from that
Come on the Steve Martin one wasn't *THAT* bad. They needed to bring the franchise back, and they did. It wasn't perfect, but neither were any of the Sellers Panther films. Sellers was amazing, and I wish he were still around to make more, but he isn't.
Steve Martin did the best job anyone could have done with that role, and he did it very cautiously.
I'm glad they brought the franchise back, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next one with John Cleese as Dreyfus.
As for this box set....I skipped on the last box set. I'm still happy with the original DVD releases, and the cartoon box set that I still haven't finished watching. There really isn't a need for this.

If there is one franchise that was NOT required back (and there are far too many to name) it's The Pink Panther. When you compare the new one to any of the old ones, even the unfunny later ones are preferable to it. And to think they have the audacity to make a sequel! Where's (former) Chief Inspector Dreyfus when you really need him with that ray gun to blast MGM...?

Francois: Do you know what kind of a bomb it was?
Clouseau: The exploding kind.

I have the 6 disc set from a while back.
The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark are really the only ones worth owning in both these sets. Everyone says Revenge is so great (that's the one where Dreyfus goes nuts and builds a ray gun, right?) but it's like, borderline pointless. Clouseau and Kato have a fight (funniest part of the latter movies), have Clouseau dress up, have him foil some weird plot (is it "Strikes Again" with the climax that takes place in a warehouse battling CEOs?)
Although I think Return of the Pink Panther (why don't they buy the rights from Focus?) is a great sequel and a good movie on its own. It actually has the Pink Panther diamond in it, imagine that! A Pink Panther movie with the Pink Panther!

Classic!...but then I suppose I could apply that same statement to about two dozen other scenes from the Panther films as well....even so many years later the humor still feels fresh...and the comic timing of Peter Sellers has always been a notch above brilliant!....
My all-time favorite classic scene from any of the films is when Clouseau is interrogating the Fassbinder staff in Strikes Again. That is just about the funniest 10 minutes or so of any movie I've ever seen... Frickin' HI-larious!

Ive got the previous boxset and replaced the worst film with the 'return of the pink panther' disc.
Hence, I have the collection I need

Just wish they would've left the last two (Roberto Benigni and Steve Martin) out of this, it kinda taints the set...
