My daughter is going to love this. Isn't Bambi about to come out as well?
Nice covers, I'll tell ya that.
Loves it!
I really loved this movie when I was little, I will pick it up to remind me of the good ol days!
cool! i love this movie! but the little mermaid is the best!! they need that on dvd!!
Eh
This was a GOOD Disney movie, but it wasn't anything great. Although I like it enough to possibly get it. The Disney 2-disk sets are very tempting. lol
platinum
Why aren't they giving this a platinum treatment?
I mean 10th aniversery is good and all, but ya know they are just gonna re-release it in the platinum name.
bah, idk anymore!

This was never my cup of tea, but it looks like a great package.
Now how about some more classic stuff. Like Pinnochio? or Cinderella, or 101 dalmations, or even the little mermaid? Speed it up Disney!

A handful of Disney animated classics were released a few years ago under a "Limited Issue" banner. Among those titles were "Pinnochio, Lady & The Tramp, Jungle Book, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmations, Pocahontas and the Little Mermaid. Disney is revisiting these titles with sparkling new transfers and widescreen enhancement where applicable. I own all the Disney animated classics that have been released to DVD and love to watch these films in appreciation of their sheer art and beauty.
This is the way they should do them - a nice package and decent extras. I wonder if it is going to be one of those Disney "enhanced" 5.1 mixes....
""Now how about some more classic stuff. Like Pinnochio? or Cinderella, or 101 dalmations, or even the little mermaid? Speed it up Disney!""
I believe Cinderella is set for the end of the year. And Dalmatians may follow next year... I'm not quite sure, i know i've seen it somewhere. It might have been UltimateDisney.
But I do know where ever I read that, they said some of the older releases, should be coming out within the next couple of years. Not only does Disney have to spew out their catalog of Masterpieces, but they have to do it before the next wave of home entertainment reaches...Whenever that may be.
From what I read they are also releasing it sequence (not as in original release dates) but as in, when they were last on video.
Some of the older crowd may remember in the early 90's when a Disney classic came out, it'd have x amount of time before they put it back in "The Vault.".
In which in the ad's they would say get it know, because it won't be seen/released for another decade.
And that's exactly what they are doing.
Not including the "Limited Release" but if you really think about the older film's it has been 10 years since it's released as a "The Classics" VHS release... So whatever we didn't get under the "Gold Collection" under Disney DVD, expect it soon....
If they rush it out soon enough we may have they're complete Classic Catalog in under 3 years. Chances are they'll even double dip on the ones they breezed by aka barebones... EVEN possible re-releases of the Gold Collection.
Perfect example this movie itself, wasn't this part of the Gold Collection just 5 years ago?
One thing you can't determine what they're focusing on. We just had an Alladin Platimum release which was early 90's, yet they're mixing it up by going back to the 40's/50's with Bambi being the next Platinum release.... I'm raving and ranting as usual, and most likely bored you all with it.

From Ultimate Disney:

Maybe
I'm a huge fan of the Disney animated films, owning most. But have to say this is my least favorite. I will, however, give this one a rent. Only because I hope they improve the picture quality. The animation is still their weakest work IMO.

I should have been a little more clear. I actually have 101 Dalmations and Pinocchio as the barebones limited versions, I want full blown special editions along the lines of Snow White.
That banner from ultimate disney isnt very encouraging, where's pinocchio. I'd take that over the jungle book or lady and the tramp anyday. That IS where their frickin' theme song comes from. I bet those titles at the end of the banner hit a hi-def format before DVD

I'll be getting this. I like this movie a lot although the first time I saw it I didn't get attached.
I really like the cover but it's not as good as the R2 French cover. Check that cover out for a great Pocahontas cover.

I don't think Disney has much interest in re-releasing The Black Cauldron. I like the movie a whole lot but for most it's one of the lesser Disney films sadly.

The first release of the black cauldron on DVD was like its first on home video ever wasnt it? or something like that because it was rated PG.
I love the Disney films from 1989-1999. I've been waiting for this one, especially since it will include the deleted song, which was aired years ago on ABC. (It in my opinion, MAKES the movie).
The coverart is fine, with the exception of Pocahontas' face...eek.
