Finally, I can complete my Frank Drebbin collection. Not that I have lost a lot of sleep over it, but this is a long time due to hit DVD, I will be getting this first day, too.
Someone should convince the Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker team it is time to reunite everyone to give us Airplane 3, same cast, same jokes... just my 2cents.

YES. I will buy this for sure.
B****r! We only transferred our tape copes a couple of months ago! Let's hope that they have gotten copyright clearance on all of the music, and are not the horrible botch-jobs that came out on VHS. Said editions used really lousy prints, but it looks like these will shine, and will be odd to hear them in DD5.1 - and it's amazing the behind-the-scenes material exists on a show where only four of the six episodes were played on US TV before it was pulled.

I cannot wait for this. I love the Naked Gun series, and since I wasn't alive to watch this, I'll be glad to get this in my collection.
Wow. Only 6 episodes? I didn't realize they made so few of them. Why does it say "in color"? Why wouldn't it be in color?

"In color" was just one of the many running gags in the show.
Basically, why would it not be in color is the joke.
Ah... running gags. Love 'em, and even many of the jokes kept going into all the movies.

I must be a moron, I didnt know the Naked Gun movies were a Tv series before. Sweet
What took them so long?! They should include the ABC tv promo with the model airplane landing on top of a tv set with the narration "The creators of Airplane! land on tv!"
Weird that the spine says a "CBS DVD" when the show was on ABC.

Commentary on selected episodes? If there are only six they should have done all of them.
And I'm still kinda hoping that this release provokes them to upgrade their Naked Gun box set -- those DVDs are good but they deserve an Airplane!-style overhaul since that Airplane! disc was one of the most satisfying SEs I've ever seen. Clearly the films need some interviews with Nielsen, Kennedy, Presley and perhaps even Simpson, deleted scenes and whatever else they can dig up.

It was on ABC, but produced by Paramount, which I think is now owned by CBS (or maybe it's the other way around? I forget).

I think Paramount used to be owned by CBS, but they aren't any more.

Wow, I haven't seen these since I was a kid. I can't wait! I remember them being really funny.
Nice to see this finally make it to DVD. I never saw the show, but did love the movies, so I'll be picking this one up. I'm just a bit surprised that Paramount isn't releasing any SEs of the movies on the same day (probably with those stupid titles), but maybe that's still TBA.
Its about time! I wasn't around when they originally aired but caught them on Comedy Central and love this show! Its amazing they were even able to make the films when the show only lasted 4 episodes! I would like it if other short lived tv shows would make it to dvd one day, Like, HBO's Hardcore TV and The Dana Carvey Show...Those were great and would love to have them in my collection.
Definitely a must buy. I remember the "Guest Starring Florence Henderson" in one of the opening credits and she's singing about Wessonality (wesson oil) in a kitchen and gets shot down in a hail of bullets...so many great sight gags in this show!
I'm with most of you, this is a must have for me.
Hopefully they include the John Belushi opening guest star, it was replaced due to his death just when it was to be aired!

i think I heard that that was destroyed shortly after his death, I dont know why, but anyways its about time they put this on dvd, I hope they make special editions of all of the naked guns and put it all in one set

Viacom owned both Paramount Studio and CBS. Viacom was split into two companies, Viacom and CBS. Viacom retained Paramount Pictures while Paramount Home Video is now part of CBS.

I'll buy this. I thought this show was really funny. I hate the donut shtick on the cover though. It's so badly photoshopped.
FINALY, the beginning of Frank Drebin!!!! Some of the most funniest comedy EVER!!! can't wait till it's released. Some people shouldn't be so critical of the... "donut shtick"? anyway I appreciate the humor.
One of the funniest shows of all time - been waiting for this for ages after getting the videos. Fantastic news.
Vihdoinkin dvdnä!
