lots of hype about this flick , i found it odd to say the least and its one i probably wont give a second play so shall i buy it- don't think so.
Why anyone would want to buy this film to watch it a second time is beyond me. Fantastic movie, but extremely depressing and difficult to watch.
I'm surprised they're releasing it so soon.
You'd think they'd wait until later in March so they could have that huge "ACADEMY AWARD WINNER MO'NIQUE" banner at the top.

That's a good point! Of all the things to be proud of for a film of this caliber, it's a Golden Globe NOMINATION?!
Otherwise, this film was really terrific. The whole crown and wings thing for the cover art is a bit too out of context and, *sigh* hokey. I'll still find myself purchasing this week one.

I was a little apprehensive about seeing this at first, because Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry's names were attached. But this movie really took my expectations and turned them upside-down. Gabourey Sidibe had a great, breakthrough perfomance, but Mo'Nique stole the show for me. She must have really had to dig deep and go to a very dark place in her mind, in order to turn in the kind of performance she had in this film. My hat is off to her. She's come a long way from Phat Girlz.....
Hat is also off to Lenny Kravitz and Mariah "Scarey" for allowing Lee Daniels to strip them of their real-life superstar music artist personas, and make them look like believable, regular, everyday people.
And last, but certainly not least, Paula Patton. Wow, she is a vision of loveliness! I've had my eyes on her, ever since she was in that Denzel Washington movie, Deja Vu. Now that Halle Berry is more focused on motherhood than her career, Paula's gonna take her spot as the #1 marquee Black Female Hollywood star in a couple more years. Mark my words....
Release day pick-up for me.

Saw it the other day, depressing, dull but some great performances. A shame the film cared less about the plot and more about acting set pieces in the end.
Looks ok... I will probably rent.

I will definitely rent this one. Although, I'm quite surprised they're announcing this so fast. If my thoughts are correct, I believe this is still playing in cinemas. Well, maybe that's a good thing. At least I won't have to wait any longer. I'm also trying to watch the Oscar nominations of the 82nd Oscars. I've already seen Avatar and Inglourious Basterds, I have some more to catch up to.

The reason people loved this movie, and I'm sure those who have seen it will agree with me, is that it's an optimistic film. It's far from being, "Oh, me! Look at me! I want to just kill myself rather than live through this wreck of a life!" It may seem depressing at first, but, in the end, it's filled with hope and optimism. It's one of the best films of 2009. 10/10

The Blind Side is FAR from a "lame piece of c**p". But I heard so many good things about this, I can't wait to watch it on DVD.
Looked great. Will definitely check it out. I like gritty, depressing movies. I'll take this over that lame piece of c**p THE BLIND SIDE any day.
This movie is actually getting a lot of praise which I never actually realize. Will rent on Blu.
Yeah, like I want to watch something about a morbidly obese girl raped by a relative...ugh. People are supposed to identify with that?!!
None for me.
None for me.

Don't forget every hair in her armpit.
Amazing film; can't wait to get it.

Absolutely flawless film. Every performance was top-notch.
there is nothing "porn" about Precious. Porn glamorizes things. Nothing glamorous about this movie.
A good film with a great final act. Not sure I'd want this one on my shelf for multiple viewings or on BD. Is the BD so you can see each pimple on Monique's face in vivid detail?

When I read this, I thought Depression porn, like 1930s.
My only interest in seeing this would be for Gabourey's performance. Otherwise it just looks like depression porn.
