Kind Of A Boring Box
What's that 15 on the spine? Isn't this for region 1?
Jesus
I hgot rid of my region 2 version cos that had a crap design and look at this from the region 1 lot, text is ok but what is up with the backgrnd?
hmmm
i can't say i have liked any of the predator covers and posters in the past, and this is no exception. why can't someone create a good predator cover.
i thought this movie was horrid anyways.

the cover sucks...they could do much better
Not sure how I feel about the art, but a release with some extras will be welcome. Looking forward to hearing about those.
Another version?
WOW! Another version of Predator? Last 1 with Anamorphic Widescreen, DTS and Dolby Digital still not enough?
And what with that horrible cover! Can any one make anything out of it?

Well, if it's got some decent extras, I'll pick it up, since I don't have this yet on DVD.
whatever
all i have to say is crappy cover for a crappy movie... hopefully August's Alien vs. Predator will be watchable (Alien 3 and Predator 1+2 were not good, im just hopeing that avp is okay).
AvP is only going to be a "15" cert apparently. I really wanted it to be a horrific 18 certificate too.. It's going to be another Resident Evil - fun but not great.. probably
looks like the 15 on the side is following the collectors series numbers series remember 14 was the 35th anniv of planet of the apes a while back.
I've been waiting for a proper release stateside forever, so I'm picking this up regardless of any crappy cover (though this one doesn't really bother me).
The number on the side is the new mark for the Fox five star collection. The old five star collection covers (the silver thing, remember Speed, Die Hard and ID4) is now replaced by a digi-pack and a number on the side.
the number
I think that fox 5star # is right, my 'Fight Club' has a 9
15
The recent re-release of The Commitments also has a 15 on the spine. I tried to find more specific information about the numbers on Fox's site, but it's pretty promo-heavy, and not very customer-oriented.
Which release of Fight Club has the 9 on it? I have the original SE of Fight Club, and I don't see a number.

1-15
I have 1-The Abyss and 3-Independence Day. What are all the movies in the Collectors Edition Set from 1-15. If The Commitments are number 15 why is the predator number 15 too. Something's wrong.
I just dug a little deeper into Fox's site. Planet Of The Apes did show a 14 on the side, as someone confirmed before. I looked up "5-star" movies on their store page, and Speed came up with this at the bottom:
"Rated BBFC 15 by the British Board of Film Classification"
So, is the 15 some kind of rating number (since the same number can be seen on two Fox releases now), or is it actually part of a series of 5-star movies? OR...did Fox intend to put 16 on Predator?

The original Fight club SE was a five star collection DVD, but it was also a digi-pack (maybe because David Fincher didn’t like the silver cover).
The re-release of Fight club SE got a number 9 on the side, but because it was a digi-pack in the first place, the cover did not otherwise change.
I think the 15 on the Predator: Collector's Edition is a mistake.
Here is a list of re-released Five star collections DVD’s whit new packaging, a number on the side and the new name Collector's Edition instead of five star collection.
There are also some new releases.
1 - The Abyss (a new Double Digipack)
2 – Cast away (a new Double Digipack) + new cover design
3 - Independence Day (a new Double Digipack) + new cover design
4 – Planet of the apes 2001 (a new Double Digipack)
5 – The sound of music (a new Double Digipack) + new cover design
6 - ?
7 - Die Hard (a new Double Digipack)
8 - ?
9 – Fight Club (only new thing is the number 9 on the side)
10 – Alien (not an old five star collection but a new release, the one from the Quadrilogy box set)
11 –Aliens (not an old five star collection but a new release, the one from the Quadrilogy box set)
12 – Alien 3 (not an old five star collection but a new release, the one from the Quadrilogy box set)
13 – Alien resurrection (not an old five star collection but a new release, the one from the Quadrilogy box set)
14 –Planet of the Apes: 35 Anniversary (not an old five star collection but a new release)
And so on….

If they numbered their movies they should have an info page or something on their site showing all their numbered movies in order with pictures.

Ugh. DvdAnswers gave me a big shock!
I thought it had no backround at all and that it only said "Predator"

region 2
I have the region 2 SE which is a 2-disc DTS edition. It has a commentary and some nice extras. Is this new edition only for region 1? What could be different about them?

Probably because of my monitor.
I set my monitor to 80% bright and the cover is dark so I didn't really saw anything except the words "Predator" and that white dot
Btw, is this Anamorphic??

is it me or do coveres get worse. The predator boxset before this was good enough what is the point in this junk.
isn't the extras exactly the same as R2?
Also its Arnie on the front cover with his war paint, like in the film.

Easter Egg
OK, what exactly is the point of listing easter eggs as features in the press release? I mean, they're supposed to be hidden right? If you're going to list them, then just make them standard features, don't bother "easter egging" them.
I've come to be a little tired with the practice of easter eggs anyway. They were fun at first but now I've become annoyed at the notion that there's material I've paid for on my disc that I can't find.

It is a Extended Edition?
I am getting pretty tired of some of these studios with there wording and how they release stuff. When DVD first started the term Special Edition meant that the film was in some shape or form an extended edition or release. These days the whole terminology has gone out the window?
It is nice to know that this release is a collectors edition instead of termed a special edition, the term special edition should mean Extended Edition like it use too, because people still coming into DVD do not understand and for us guys who have been around a long time since it started, usually know what the difference is, but these days unless you know your running times for some films, you may end up buying just another copy of a movie with an extra disc or 2, just like this one coming out. Again I believe it’s great that this is termed a collectors edition, but what is the running time on this editions release????
