Fox Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray release of Predator for the 29th June. The "Ultimate Hunter Edition" will retail at around $29.99. Along with a complete digital restoration of the film, the disc will include commentary by John McTiernan, Text Commentary by Historian Eric Lichtensfeld, 2 documentaries ("If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It", "Inside The Predator"), special effects featurettes, a “Evolution of the Species: Hunters of Extreme Perfection” featurette, deleted scenes and outtakes, Short Takes, trailers, galleries, a Sneak Peak at Predators, and more. We've attached the official package artwork below:

Heard about this the other day. It'll be interesting to see how well the restoration has gone, as there's surely only so much you can do with such a naturally grainy image. As long as it's cleaned up a bit and given a high res scan from a new master it should look better than the old one though.

I have yet to watch the original Blu Ray of this. But I have heard its had a fair share of problems. Might just buy this if the price is right. Besides, I could use the movie money for the new Predators.
The original BD release is a lot better than popular opinion might suggest.
Play has it listed with the same Hunter name, amazonUK still have it called the fully loaded edition. THe original bluray is cheap on Amazon at the moment, and its supposed to have a great DTS HD soundtrack but its a shame it doesn't have any extras.
I think I will wait until I see some reviews before deciding to upgrade, hopefully we can get the best of both worlds with this release - great transfer and audio with all the extras.

The original blu had good jungle scenes but the dark night scenes were poor. fingers crossed for a great remaster

Glad I didn't buy the original Blu-ray release of Predator. Day one purchase of this "Ultimate Hunter Edition" for me!!
I think the Predator on the cover is from the new film. It's certainly not the one from the original.
I love this movie but have never picked up the DVD. I thought I'd buy the special edition, but it somehow never got into my shopping cart. Now is the right time to buy this one.
Of all the 80 action films, this one is my favourite. I just wish instead of the Predator, they had the poster with Schwarzenegger. That was a real cool one sheet!

boring and generic cover. Allways use the theatrical poster or something classy!
Looks identical to the 2-disc DVD edition in my collection but if the picture quality is vastly improved I may consider an upgrade.
If all they're gonna do is scrub the grain with DNA that aint gonna go down well with the more purist film fan.
