Sony has announced rated (88 minutes) and unrated (89 minutes) editions of Prom Night which stars Brittany Snow, Scott Porter, and Jessica Stroup. As well as a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen presentation and English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track, the discs will include commentary with Director Nelson McCormick, Brittany Snow and Johnathon Schaech, deleted scenes with optional commentary, an alternate ending, 4 featurettes (A Night to Remember: The Making of Prom Night, Profile of a Killer, Gothic Spaces: Creating the Pacific Grand Hotel, Prom Night Photo Album: Real Prom Stories from the Cast), and a gag reel. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $38.96 with an additional storyboard track.

Quote: Three years ago, Donna (Brittany Snow, John Tucker Must Die) watched in horror as an obsessed predator (Johnathon Schaech, That Thing You Do!) murdered her family. Tonight is her senior prom and although she's anxious about the past, she's excited to celebrate her future with her friends. What Donna doesn't know is that the deranged psychopath has escaped from the asylum. He's returned to hunt her down, intent on killing anyone who gets in his way. As the night races towards its heart-pounding conclusion, the question becomes not who will be prom queen, but who will survive the killer's rampage.

PG-13 MTV BULLS**T.
I'LL PASS.
I'LL PASS.
well, now i closely see both artwork, im gonna go this time for the blue one, looks way better...
I haven't seen Prom Night, though I wouldn't mind renting it sometime. At least it stars Brittany Snow, whom I've liked since the TV show American Dreams.
This warrants a Blu-ray purchase for me. Wasn't the greatest movie this year (lol), but it will be a fun guilty pleasure to revisit from time to time.
I don't really dig the red-tinted artwork for the unrated... or the blue-tinted for the theatrical, either. I didn'd mind the movie, unlike seemingly everyone else who saw it. I love the original, and this didn't even come close, but it had a few good scenes intermingled with the bad ones, and for that I'll give it SOME credit.
Highres artwork added for the rated DVD and unrated Blu-ray
Just another bad remake..

You obviously didn't see Meet the Spartans
That's funny how your line is Epic movie was the worst film made. And you went to see Meet the Spartans which is the same creators as Epic movie.
I didn't pay for it.
Also, those are some white-ass teeth on that cover. Jeez.
Did you see "Meet the Spartans?" Or did you see it online? How did you see it and you did not pay for it?
I saw it online. I want my 65 minutes back.

Maybe a friend paid for him, or he works at a theater, he's got the hook up or he snuck in. Not that hard to get into a movie for free these days.

Is that artwork even official? I'm expecting some photoshop overload with the cast on the cover and the killer lurking behind them with his flipknife. LOL! I'll be really disappointed with Sony if they go with that cover. It's so... plain... not that the movie wasn't, anyway.
Uh, yes it's official lol. If its posted here it's official. Unless they decide to revise it.

I agree that Prom Night isn't great or even the smallest bit good, but, it's fun and enjoyable. My friend and I, who, yes, we're old enough to watch R-rated horror flicks, had a fun time laughing at parts that weren't meant to be funny and acknowledging the cliches this movie had. But, now a days, what movie isn't loaded with cliches? That's why people are remaking movies in the first place, or either making sequels or basing movies off of things, because there are no original ideas anymore. They've all been used up. Take Prom Night for what it is, a harmless, mindless PG-13 tween horror flick, and, have fun. I will be buying this, but, only if I can catch it on sale first week out at CC, BB, or Target.
The artwork is eh. I'm getting tired of the red/blue tint scheme for unrated/rated.. and the banners are just lazy..

I see them in Circuit City for 9 bucks, Sony needs to get their c**p together.
I do! I can get them for like £4.99 at GameStation. But, rest assure I won't be getting this on UMD, let alone DVD.

like someone said MEET THE SPARTANS was awful... and i owned it...
oh and let me tell u this... i saw it twice at the theaters...
and i enjoyed it...
BTW: THE SIGNAL was awful... i was so glad i was buying it, all cuz of the 3-D cover... and it was actually awful... (we all have different tastes) i think THE SIGNAL failed to be funny (when it tried) and scary at all times...
OK, im not saying PROM NIGHT is the best movie, it's not even a good movie... but it's pretty enjoyable...

No matter how much everyone whines about it, studios will continue to make more of what is profitable. The original Prom Night did fairly well when released in US theatres back in 1980 taking in around $15 million. For 1980, that is pretty good for a Canadian horror film.
The SONY remake made around $48 million worldwide.....about $45 million here in the states.
If you don't like it, stay home or see something else. And here is something else for you all to get your panties in a wad over...SONY is planning another PG-13 remake of another 80's slasher film....Hell Night. The 1981 horror film that starred Linda Blair.

Quite simple - DON'T MAKE THESE REMAKES!
Oh, my kingdom for a new story....isn't that what they pay writers for - to write?

I agree with everyone talking s**t about this movie..The whole movie is one bad horror movie cliche after another...no originality whatsoever...I juse don't understand how s**t like this keeps getting made...
Filmmakers...GO wreck other people's proms. lol

Only one good thing came from this remake wich was finally a release of HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT II on DVD.
I can't either! I think the conversations in the studios goes a little like this:
Exce #1: Let remake Prom Night!
Exce #2: Are you sure, it didn't do that good 20 years ago?
Exce #1: Yeah, but if we add in some low rider jeans, a token black guy or two and some cell phones, we can market it to a "hip" new audience.
Exce #2: I'll call Michael Bay.

I liked this version. I love the original of course but, this one wasn't as bad as everyone claimed it was. I will be buying the Blu-ray definately.
Hopefully the unrated version will be on the Blu-ray. Maybe even both versions.

What, no mention of Idris Elba from The Wire being in this film? Well, then again, if I were him, I probably wouldn't want my name attached to this garbage after the initial theatrical release either, LOL.....

No blood....no nudity....no thanks.
P.S. That scar on Brittany Snow's head, made her look like Harry Potter.

Stop it.
Yet another example of a bad 80's movie made in to a worse movie for stupid teenagers who can't understand why it is cool to be original.
yahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! b***h
Might catch this at the dollar theatre...
i agree w/ horrorfan25. (IMO) this was one of THE worst movies i've EVER seen (and i saw it for free at a pre-screening.). it's an insult to anyone who loves the horror genre (IMO). adding 1 minute (i'm sure not of gore or suspense) isn't going to salvage this c**pfest.
This was a stupid movie. In fact one of the worst movies of 2008. By the way the unrated is an R rated version.
I can't even bring myself to yawn. I wish these things would just go away.
Pass
brutally bad. worst movie of '08 so far.
For me watching horror movie is like a hobby, so I can't wait to see this movie, and i'd like to compare this one with the original version of the movie.
Any studio-released PG-13 horror movie remake revolving around any killer killing any amount of teenagers past the date of 1989 is not worth my time, I am proud to say I will never see this EVER.
On that note, everybody should check out The Signal coming out on DVD tomorrow, now THATS a movie!

I liked this movie. It was stupid and predictable but I still enjoyed it.
so its another movie from that new remake trend? you know where the only thing it has in common with the original is the title. its like april fools day and the upcoming bloody valentine.
Mehhhh...this was so bad, like really bad. My pal dragged me to see this, didn't think he liked it either
Wow...one minute added to the Unrated cut...and it'll all be sideboob.
Hmmm... let me get this straight: on one hand you have a deranged killer hunting you... and on the other you have an evening of punch and pop music? I think the choice is obvious. The chance to do the "Supaman" dance to "Crank Dat" by Soulja Boy is well worth the risk. Wouldn't you say?
EHHH this WAS better than i thought it would be, but didn't do much for me. It had some tense moments and was better than the original but other than that it was kinda empty. I think part of the problem with these more recent horror films is the characters are all types, they seem like something from MTV's Laguna Beach, i swear when i saw this trailer i thought it was a laguna beach movie.
