Where the hell is the Pscyho Legacy documentary that covers all 4 movies?
RE: Anthony Perkins on the Bonus Features menus
If looks could kill! Very cool! Norman Bates is my favorite male movie character of all time!

Cool - another tops release worthy of a purchase
The Whites of Her Eyes
Perkins' name should be first, or Hitchcock's. Otherwise don't put anyone's name before the title.
The non-special edition laserdisc transfer of the film (which was probably the same source material as the VHS version) was not as dark as the DVD transfer. In the shower scene, during the shot of "Mother" (in silhouette) when she rips open the shower curtain, you can see the whites of her eyes. It makes the shot 10 times scarier.

Maybe out of respect because she IS the biggest star of the film.
So you'd be happy if Sean Connery got top billing on the cover for Highlander, Charlton Heston on Beneath the Planet of The Apes, Tony Todd on Final Destination. I'm not arguing whether or not they deserve top billing, the point is they didn't get it. For nearly 40 years if anyone has ever had their name above Psycho (normally no one does) it's Anthony Perkins. Ask anyone to name the star of Psycho, or frankly anyone from it and they'll say Anthony Perkins. Personally I don't think either actor should be credited, just Hitchcock.

The big star of the film?
Well, maybe in 1960, but even then she got the 'and' status. I don't like it when studios change things around like that. It's the same as when an unknown star sudddenly becomes famous. Would you like Johnny Depp in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' or Kevin Bacon in 'Friday the 13th'?

already owned on DVD. This version looks great, but Only looking to upgrade to blu-ray now.
Its unfortunate that Robert Galluzzo's decade-in-the-making docuemntary, The Psycho Legacy, won't be included. Perhaps if they do a Blue-Ray boxed set, it will finally get the attention it deserves.

I don't own any version of this film yet. I had just watched it for my first time last september of 07 in High Def on a high def movie channel, and the movie was amazing(my favorite film of all time up to date, but the quality of the audio and video were super strong!!!!
While I still might buy this 2 disc dvd, I am and have been waiting extremely patiently for a blu-ray version.
Universal get your guys' acts together and feed the hungry public what they want!!! A blu-ray edition of this most gorgeous/beautiful/psychological/fantastic film!!!!!

Very classy artwork. Too bad I already own the video AND the DVD of this already.
I've gotta dissent here: i'm not impressed by the cover art. covering normans silhouette with the bates motel sign makes it feel crowded. I was really hoping we'd get some classic poster art or something, a really classy cover for this seminal film. its not ugly i guess, but it could have been SO much better. And I'm in agreement with whoever it was that said Uni should remove the "tear" marks at the side of the logo...they don't look right...and if they really are a holdover from the...*shudder*...remake, then universal should be severely beaten for including them...anything to do with that "film" should be burned, burried, and the ground salted over.

The Lady Vanishes was released by Criterion a while back. Psycho is one of my least favorite hitchcock films. Dont get me wrong, its a great film, but its way overrated.

This is getting the Wizard of Oz treatment with all the goodies in there. I wonder if the inserts will have production notes like the previous releases..im really excited about this
That cover is AMAZING!
Great artwork. But I dont plan on buying the same gawd damn movie a dozen times. I agree with the rest of ya. HOLDING OUT for the BLU~
A worthy double dip
??
I have 2-4 so might as well get the best one. I hope it's remastered
I love that cover.

Best cover art in 2008 alone!
Even the banners at the top and the spine make it outstanding.

You might be, i personally hate digital copies. Just get a portable DVD player, better quality, better sound, longer lasting batteries than an MP3 player

What Legacy Series has a 40-50 page booklet?
I have Frankenstein, To Kill, Dracula, Deer Hunter, The Sting...
None of these has one.
Are you thinking of the music "Legacy Editions" of CDs?

What's new with this edition? Would like them to use some original art instead of that cover.

Nice! Will buy.
Universal if you're reading this.
Please change the actor order (or remove entirely). Move Alfred Hitchcock's name to above the title. Straighten the image of the house sightly, I know it's often shown from an angle but not so much that it looks like it's falling over. Oh, and remove the white 'tear' strips from the title, they were only added after the remake came out.
Thank you.

Sweet! I love the Legacy Series, it will nicely match my others!
I don't own the Hitchcock collection, and was going to buy these individually, so I'm glad I waited.

Wow! The Legacy Series eh? Wonder if I should sell my OOP 'Collector's Edition' DVD from 1998...any thoughts?
Best Alfred Hitchcock movie of all time, but would look better on Blu-ray. I'll also hold out for the Blu-ray release of this movie. Hopefully, Warner Bros. will bring all of us a Blu-ray release of North by Northwest, and we'll all be set!
I would LOOOVE a digital copy. Am I alone here?
love the artwork...simple but I like it
Thank! God!!!
I already own the old edition, but I've waited forever for a 16x9 upgrade! And it being a 2-disc... *faint*

Nice artwork, but not replacing the collection I've got for this. Will only upgrade for a decent Blu-ray release.

Nice for people that didn't take advantage of the Psycho: Collector's Edition release.
I really don't see the point of waiting for this movie on bluray, but that is just me. The step up isn't as nice as VHS -> DVD, so I doubt I'll be double owning much without getting deals.
I'm sure there will be another release will be in 2 years, Psycho's 50th anniversary. I just picked up the sequels in one set at Walmart, haven't gotten to watch any yet.

I'm definately buying it. Psycho is a Halloween tradition at my house, and I'm tired of renting it.
I'll pick this up eventually; I have the Masterpiece Collection, so I'm in no rush. Wonder what the artwork will look like.

Love Hitch, but still going to hold out for the Blu.
Just compared, and it looks like the only thing it's missing from the previous release is "Cast and Filmakers: Biographies" and the new stuff is the commentary, "In the Master's Shadow: Hitchcock's Legacy", "Hitchcock / Truffaut Interview Excerpts" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents "Lamb to the Slaughter""
I am going to wind up owning at least two or three copies of every movie hitch ever made! I'll have to keep my criterions after picking up the new mgm box set, cuz all the features are different...and i cant very well toss out one disc from the universal masterpiece collection after i pick this up, can i? oh well. im not complaining, i'm psyched that this is coming with a commentary...and hopefully a better transfer. blu ray? please? I'd feel a bit better if it were blu.
No wonder the previous disc went OOP.
Yeah me too.
I love this movie, I will be buying this
