This movie was TERRIBLE. They made it basically forgetting the first one even existed.
The action scenes were c**p, I don't understand how he can rip a guys head off with ease one minute, and can barely knock one of the main "bosses" down the next.
The only redeeming thing about this movie IMO was the soundtrack if you're into heavier tunes.

The first one wasn't terrible...wish they continued on with it.
Didnt see this one though.

ok, does no one remember how dreadfully awful the tom jane one was? IT WAS A CRIME AGAINST COMICS! this one was at least true to punisher!!! but ill pass, i have a feeling this one will be unrated or extended at some point. (i just plain dont trust releases anymore)
Haha, this one made just $8 million off of a $35 million budget. Pass.
Good thing I passed it in Regal then. It didn't look good to me. 2004's Punisher was much better. I saw that in Regal.
This wasn't that bad. Although I still liked Thomas Jane in the 2004 Punisher film. But I'll still buy Punisher: War Zone on Blu-ray.
It wasn't that great, but there was enough over the top violence and WTF? moments to keep you entertained.
I did see this in theatres and thought it was entertaining for the most part. I thought Stevenson's Castle was more truer to the comic that Jane's.
What puzzled me about this movie was that it wasn't even a sequel. It was essentially a re-boot as it had no continuity from the 1st film.
Dominic West was the major weakpoint of this film. His character was so cartoonish and over the top.
Shocked that this isn't getting an Unrated version considering how gory and violent it was. I think I may wait for a price drop on this one as I don't think it will be selling like hotcakes.

it wasnt meant to be a sequel. they REALLY were trying to fix the mistake of 2004's punisher. they went with the "war zone" comic series, not the regular punisher run. so its the first of the "war zone" run.
i agree, this release seems perfect for some kind of unrated version.

This was awesome. Really gory and very fun. Ill get the Blu-ray.
Cool regular cover. I skipped it like Dolph Lundgren was in it.
The first film was really good IMO. I'm speaking of the director's cut now, which is better, but the theatrical cut of that was also good.
I can't see how this could be better that the first as it doesn't have Tom Jane.
And the single disc cover is better as usual....

Great cover art. terrible film.
LOVED IT! I don't care what anyone says, I think it stayed true to the comic, and is THE BEST adaptation so far! Definite buy for me!
Seriousy. I enjoyed this movie. It was not in any way a good movie but it was fun and really gory. Like a slasher movie with guns. I liked Jigsaw. This is very much an 80's style B action movie. You would have to enjoy movies like Doomsday to get a kick out of this Punisher movie. Again, its not a good movie, but it is exactly what the Punisher should be. I am not jumping on the "hated it bandwagon" I actually went in thinking it was going to suck and I just found myself laughing and and enjoying it. Best part involved a guy jumping from roof top to roof top and getting hit with a rocket via rocket launcher.....that just made me almost fall out of my chair.
I never saw either, but the guy in the 04 one looked like a pretty boy, this guy at least looks better for the part.
only thing i hated is that when he punched that guy in the face, his face imploded. that was stupid.
ill buy it when it comes down to the 5$ bin, this aint worth full price

Nice touch with the "Bradstreet Hotel" on both covers. Tim Bradstreet has been illustrating the covers for The Punisher comics for a few years now.
My friend told me this film was awesome. Since the reviews were c**p I may just skip this. But if I get a free rental or something for this movie, only then will I see it.
Great artwork, haven't seen this one yet as it doesn't come out here till beginning next month, i'll just import as usual or something.
Oh please, this is definitely a pass.
considering the Thomas Jane (gag!) version had nothing to do with the comic and this new one is at least in New York and supposedly extremely gory... I don't see how this couldn't be a good watch if nothing else.
I'll be getting the Blu-Ray day one. The Punisher is my favorite comic character of all time, and the Punisher Max series is my favorite telling of Frank Castle's tale of revenge and deprevation. I thought WARZONE was a perfect screen adaptation of the comic book Punisher (especially the max series). It was really solid.
The 2004 Punisher however while a decent film in it's own right, failed as a film based on the punisher. Thomas Jane was no Frank Castle and John Travolta was a laughable villian.
PUNISHER: WARZONE- 7.5/10
2004 PUNISHER- 6.0/10

i'll blind buy this... even though i know what im getting... a cheap action flick... but i wanna add it to my collection whatsoever...
This looked awful; I loved the 2004 film, and this looked like a POS B-movie. Also, what is up with the tagline? He's the Punisher, it IS NOT vengeance, thats the point!
If it wasn't for the action, Punisher: War Zone would have been terrible. Everything except the action is terrible.
Speaking entirely from a comic book fan's point of view, I thought the movie was wildly entertaining and I'll pick it up.
Was it Oscar-worthy? Hell no, but it held my attention and tossed in some great action (none less-believable than your standard Bond movie).
A Stan Lee appearance would've given this movie another star all by itself.

Said it before & I'll say it again.. Dolph rules. These sequels are just wrong.
This was pretty much the best time I've had in a theater all year. All of you haters have no idea what you're missing: the most violent, ridiculous, balls-to-the-wall B-movie in who knows how long.
Patton Oswalt says it better than I could: "made me cackle like a railyard hobo who's found half a cigar and a can of beans."

For what it's worth, I pretty much enjoyed the Lundgren Punisher on the exact same level of testosterone-filled dopiness. Sure, I liked many of the great films that came out in 2008, like The Wrestler or Let the Right One In, but if you can't kick back with a Punisher: War Zone every once in awhile and laugh, then you need to lighten up.
