I'll import the Sony BD release from the US, no offense to 20th Century Fox fans but i'm not too fond of some BD releases from the studio.

IIRC Fox only distribute MGM films and TV, so the disk should be identical to the US version.

Good movie, just don't compare it to Casino Royale. Will pick it up.
Haven't seen it yet. Heard it's enjoyable as long as you don't go in expecting another Casino Royale, so will pick it up on Blu-ray at some point.
Was gonna say since when did this become a Fox studio release. lol
The casino royale transfer was amazing, as well as a better film.
Nonetheless this is a good action movie but not a great Bond film.

Unless it's an extended cut with all the characterisation added in I won't be bothering. Take the action away and you literally have nothing left.
The best I can say about it is it's better than Die Another Day (not very hard).

Okay Bond movie, had a fantastic opening. The plot needed tons more work, but had great action scenes. Certainly beautiful woman too. Gemma Arterton is a total babe. Some nice nods to classic Bond films as well.

Doesn't come close to Casino Royale but still very good.
Martin Campbell is the Bond director of choice.
Interestingly, he's said the reason he didn't want to do sequels was because he didn't want to do something that was the same as something he'd done before.
Mask of Zorro/Legend of Zorro???

ALREADY?!?!
The UK one will be the pre-cut version, so yeah get the US release. Or Aussie one.

Could you elaborate on that please Gav? I wasn't aware that Quantum was pre-cut by the BBFC. I obviously know Casino Royale was which is why I was thankful to get the R3 uncut dvd. I originally hadn't a clue it was cut until I read on dvdcompare.
I think of Quantum as the second part to CR, its really just one movie. I love both films and regard Daniel Craig now as the best Bond IMHO
Roll on Bond 23.

I happen to know that Sony (as I'm sure all the major distributors) work very closely with the BBFC while films are in production. Sometimes even during pre-production because of the advances in Pre-Vis software, film makers can run entire sequences by the BBFC to see if the Board would have any problems with the sequence at a particular certificate. I believe this would be the case with Quantum and would be reasonably sure that the film hasn't been pre cut but more likely that it's been designed and shot so that it wouldn't have to be.
If you look at the BBFC extended advice section, I see that they miss out detailing the gratuitous up skirt 'crotch' shot towards the end of the film. When the General drags his assistant off the bed. Tasteful. I could supply the wording.
'Brief shot of a woman's pants'. If that doesn't get the 12 years old's in then nothing will.

Dam quick! But then again it is starting to become the norm.....
When's the US release?
And you're all right: this one doesn't compare to CASINO ROYALE.
This one is much, much better.

Is better American English for utter rubbish? :D
I'm sure it will get released at the same time.

Definately not as good as Casino but still a good action film. If a 3rd Craig Bond film happens, and can get back to Casino's pace (without the extended endings) then I'm more thsn happy to accept Solace as a fast paced blip on the Bond radar. If they carry on in this vain though, not letting the characters breathe for a few minutes then I'd be more concerned for the direction the films were taking.
That was quick. Where's the US release date?
Olga Kurylenko looks like a cracked out dora the explorer on the poster. still loved the movie though.
Had to take this down a while ago at Fox's request, but it's now been officially announced along with the details of the extras.
The US release is on the same week
Those extras stink of SE.
i hope theres some extra stuff on the BD like pip or it will be very dissapointing.Update just read on another site theres no BD exclusives planned even for the us release thats poor.Obviously this is because theyre planning to do what they did with casino royale and release a deluxe edition with pip bd-live etc later on.
If there had been any BD exclusives I would have announced them.
Loved the movie, but this is a weak release. No commentary, no deleted scenes. Smell another double dip coming. Though, have to say the double dip they did for Casino Royale was pretty damn good.
Haven't seen the film. Will wait for the re-release in a year or two.
I think most Bond fans were hopeful for a good selection of extras, seeing as Mgm/Fox were releasing this. Originally for Die another Day their 2 disc set was outstanding. But these extras do seem light to say the least. All those docs are on youtube and been available for a while.
Personally I won't go for the BD yet, I will probably get the 1 disc dvd, then double dip on the collectors edition Bluray when its released for Bond 23 coming out. If the extras are as good as the CR re-release I won't complain too much.
Though I will keep an eye out to make sure Quantum doesn't have any cuts like Casino has.

Was it f*****g worth it?
The extras are almost as naff as the ones that came with the original release of Casino Royale.
Quantum of Solace is a pretty dreadful movie, but it would have been nice to have some interesting extras in order to tempt fans of the Bond series into buying this on DVD even if they hated it when they watched it at the cinema.
It'll be interesting to see if any deleted scenes exist that might have helped to flesh out the story and characters, as the thing is pitifully thin on both fronts.

Also the US release should be uncut.

The UK release was pre-cut to get a 12A in the crosscutting sequence between the attempted rape/fight scene at the end. Whether these cuts apply to non-UK releases (a la GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies) I dont know. We will see!
