i liked this as much as [rec], i probably gonna get this along with [rec] dvd, about that does anybody know when [rec] comes to dvd in Canada
I still gotta import [REC] Blu-ray edition from Japan, i loved it.
I PROMISED myself that I'd see [●REC] before I saw Quarantine, but I ended up seeing this at the cinema and I still have yet to see [●REC]. My mate said it was one of the scariest Horror movies in a long time.
I enjoyed it. Definitely not as good as REC but it was one of the better remakes.
I'll skip this until [REC] comes out on DVD. Which is...hopefully really soon.
Still gotta see [rec] but I heard this was good?

It happens alot with these remakes - although how can a remake be anything but unoriginal?

Didn't see this, but I heard it was good. I'll give it a rent.
Not really interested.
Not to beat a dead horse....but [REC] was a lot better.

Answer:
John Carpenter's remake of The Thing (From Another World). Although it should be pointed out that his movie followed the written source material more than the original one from the '50s. Nonetheless, Carpenter's The Thing is still considered a remake.
I do 100% agree with you when it comes to U.S. remakes of foreign films...especially horror or sci-fi.

When she's pulled away in the green, I figured it was the last shot giving away the ending. I wonder if I was wrong? But not enough to rent it.
This was pretty edge-of-your-seat scary and downright hilarious at times. Will definitely buy the DVD to preserve the gritty effect.

I am so sick and tired of people saying that REC is so amazing and Quarantine sucks because it will never be like the original. Well what did you expect? An oscar-nominated film that has zombies with shaky camera? I thought it was a fun, cool movie. I will totally pick it up.

I think the point people are making is that making what is essentially a shot-for-shot remake of a Spanish horror film is dumb when people could just watch the original film. It's not even like [REC] came out years ago.

Americans are just to damned lazy to seek out an import, so we remake em.
It's a shame.

Amen to that! (from a fellow American)

Haven't seen [rec], but I enjoyed this well enough.

Americans aren't lazy. They just aren't compatable to get imports from other countries. I mean, who does that? The movie will be released on DVD probably the same day "Quarantine" comes out but until now, you can't call people dumb because they can't smuggle things in from other countries. Like we all have region free DVDs. Most of us don't even know what that means.

Maybe people in general are too lazy to read the subtitles but anyway it seemed more realistic and intense in Rec compared to this version.

Spoiler It is in [●REC]...

i liked this but got motion sickness about half way through. so i just ended up listening to most of the second half. this was way worse than cloverfield (from a camera point of view).
Hard to believe anything can be worse than Cloverfield. (from any point of view)
Blu-ray artwork added
Nice art.
Excellent Horror remake!

It happens alot with these remakes - although how can a remake be anything but unoriginal?
Tell you what, watch the remakes of The Fly, The Thing and Dawn Of The Dead then get back to us on that one...
I haven't since this yet, but I'm apprehensive because I love the original so much. Not only that, but yeah that looks like the last shot of the movie to me (with the cheeky [REC] symbol in the top right)... If they're that unconcerned about their audience, I might just wait for [REC] 2, currently being shot I believe.

okay, i have seen both [REC] and Quarantine and personally i think they were both pretty great, however there was a bit in the middle where it was just 10 minutes of them doing nothing, this one could actually throw in some extra stuff, plus in this one, i don't know, i felt i got to know the charcters more than i did in the REC. Definately buying, and it is true ALL remakes are un original because it's a REMAKE, it's ALL been done before! Duh
