Quote: When Kym (Anne Hathaway - Golden Globe Nominee, Best Actress, Motion Picture (Drama)), returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt), she brings a long history of personal crises, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations have gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym - with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama - is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic. Filled with the rich and eclectic characters that remain a hallmark of Jonathan Demme's films, RACHEL GETTING MARRIED paints a heartfelt, perceptive and sometimes hilarious family portrait.

This looked great! Blind buy for me
I'll buy this, I never got to see it in the movies.
I wanted to see it but it wasn't playing in any theaters near me so I'm check out the DVD.
I seriously don't get the hype on this movie. I saw it and, while I thought Anne Hathaway was good, the film mostly bored me. Ah well, to each their own.
That was a very good film. Demme's best since The Silence of the Lambs (That's right, better than Philadelphia). And Anne Hathaway is sure to win that oscar.
Seems amazing and right up my alley. Reminds me of PIECES OF APRIL, which is one of my favorites. My theater never got it, but I have a feeling they will this weekend. I'm sure they'll still get it. They get almost all of the Oscar movies, and have gotten smaller ones like HAPPY-GO-LUCKY.

ditto. my girlfriend almost broke up with me because i made her watch this movie. anne was good...but i don't think her performance was oscar worthy. i did not hate this movie...but it surely wasn't what i was expecting. it felt like a documentary.

Exactly! Outside of the rehab meetings it felt like I was watching someone's really boring wedding video -- the reception in particular just kept going and going and going. Perhaps the pseudo reality of it was what part of it's "charm" was for people and why they liked it so much?

Eaxctly! It was a totally wack-a-doo wedding. And it went on forever. The "Welcome Everybody" speeches/performances, the endless rehearsal dinner and toasts, and a weird as all get out wedding.
If Anne Hathaway wins an Oscar for this I'll have lost (more) faith in the Academy Awards. Hathaway is the least deserving of all five nominees.

RACHEL! RACHEL! RACHEL! SIDNEY! SIDNEY! SIDNEY! SACHEL! SACHEL! SACHEL! -- Need I say more?

I wanted to see this in theaters will blind buy, great extras too
i'll pass, looks boring!
this was my favorite film of 2008. a powerful drama and a very human story. anne hathaway proves that she is a real actress with real talent and we should see many great things to come. what an incredible movie.
I'm really excited to see Rosemarie DeWitt's performance. She seems wonderful in it.
This movie was pretty awesome. Although it was my 3rd & final movie of one of my marathon days at the theater (saw "From Within" and "Milk" before this). I'll need to rewatch it when it comes out but, and no offense to Meryl Streep, I give my vote to Anne Hathaway for best Actress!

Rosemarie DeWitt was the best part of the movie.
Let's just put it this way, if you are entertained by a movie that spends 10 minutes on a contest to see who can load the dishwasher the best...than this movie is for you.
I'm all for slice of life films which this mos def is...but the whole affair is so totally bizarre and unrelatable...
Ugh...I saw this movie a few weeks after its release with a modest sized audience...and at least 15 people left before the movie was over. And this is from a community that LOOOOOOOVES indie films.
Yes...Hathaway does show some range here...but it is NOT an Oscar winning performance.

This was one of the best movies of 2008 and it is a travesty that, besides Hathaway's great performance (I hope she walks away with that Oscar), this film has been greatly overlooked. Blu-ray for me and great use of theatrical poster for artwork.
Hathaway is worthy of the Oscar, sadly DeWitt didn't get a Supporting nom.
Managed to catch this on the plane. I never expected Demme to step into this territory, but boy he has done a wonderful job here. And while Hathaway was great, I thought Rosemarie DeWitt was the best thing about this film, shame on the Academy for not recognizing her...

BTW - I'm liking the fact that they put BD over SD on the promote sheet now, good stuff!
