Yeah but still, R2 gets the better cover over R1. We get the one where Rambo seems to be saying "Anyone got any Ben Gay?"
The R2 cover is better, but what's up with that White spine? It doesn't look right.
*cough* here in Finlad we DO have the original poster as cover !

So would I if it hadn't gotten it free.
Interesting thanks Chris. Considering the USA disc is slightly cheaper and still slightly better I'll likely get that still.
Please don't advertise other sites like that. I'm already aware of what they've written and I even contacted the relevant companies for their comments. They insist it's coded for all regions, so we'll have to wait and see if it's just the check discs that are B.
It may have been recorded in 5.1 and Lionsgate themselves created a new 7.1 mix. Have there been any Sony 7.1 tracks?
That's a pity it's Region B. According to this the USA BD is Region Free:

That's the exact same menu as the US Lionsgate release. IDK why they didn't include the 7.1 audio since they are obviously sharing resources.
Also:
Arriving day-and-date and coded for Region B*, the Blu-ray Disc features all of the DVD extras plus several exclusive extras including picture-in-picture commentary with Stallone and branching featurettes.
*Sony UK discs are usually coded for all regions, and the back cover artwork Sony have provided for Rambo indicates this to be the case. However, we have a disc in hand for Rambo and it is coded Region B only.

It's the exact same disc.
Presumably the Rambo (2008) disc included in the 1-4 DVD boxset will be the same single-disc version with the extras?
Not really. You can get this for less than a tenner over here. it's even less than £15 for the Blu-ray. It's about that with shipping from the States for both titles.
R1 - sooooo much cheaper....
Thanks Jmcclane.
Not only that but Parts 1-3 are shockingly only in Dolby Surround. I thought it might be a 5 disc set, pity the extras here are mostly dropped.

See the Rambo 1-4 boxset AmazonUK has a different design to the Region 1 Knife motif. It also says that there are just 4 discs with it, compared to R1.
Looks like you're bang on the money Bradavon, probably 1-3 are barebone releases, with just the commentary on the Rambo disc. I shall be importing the R1 set and a month earlier too.

If you order on Play.com you can get your name on the cover. A fun little novelty.
Thanks. I missed that.
I bet it will just be the existing (awful) discs though. It's bound to be as Momentum haven't announced new Rambo DVDs.

There isn't one and is unlikely to be one. Sony don't own the UK rights to Rambo 1-3, just part 4. The UK rights are held by Momentum. Sadly the box set you mention will remain.
There will be a new USA box set but Lionsgate isn't including Rambo 4, which is odd when Lionsgate own the rights to all 4 movies.
Then why is the following reported?
Quote: A boxed set containing all four Rambo movies will also be available on DVD for around £32.99.
Sometimes multi-studio box-sets do happen. Look at the Die Hard and Terminator box sets for just two examples.

I wonder will the R2 4 Movie boxset have all the extras that will be present on the R1 version.
I'm thinking primarily about the first three films, all we have currently is the c**ppy red boxset with zilch in extras.

Get that f**kin' quote off his chin.

I already know it is, but where?
Do you mean in the page title? That's very vague, especially when you have titles which are also region free saying BD RB in the title.

This movie turned out quite good. Stallone clearly put alot of effort into it.
If you want the black and white cover, there are any number of custom fan made covers you can download and print out.

Interesting. The UK release has a 5.1 lossless track, but the US equivalent has a 7.1 lossless track.
There's a high likelihood that this UK BD be region free, since Sony is the distributor vs. a high probability that the Lionsgate will be region-coded.
It may seem like the UK BD has more extras, but I bet that those additional featurettes are featured on the US release via its PiP "commentary".
