I will wait to hear what the extra 9 mins adds to it before I make a decision on this....

I hope so, but probably not. I got all the films individually on Blu though.

Although they're usually referred to as "Special Editions" rather than "Director's Cuts", James Cameron has done some very good ones.

Wish they would have released a collection pack back when the DVD came out.
I won't get the box set, then.
I won't get the blu set as I hear that the extended cut of Rambo won't be in it, just the theatrical. So, it'd prob. be best to get the tril set on blu and then the extended blu by itself.
Sounds like a pretty decent release, but I'm saving my money for Alice in Wonderland on Blu-ray. I know, I know, that AIW is no where NEAR as good as the Rambo movies, but lately, I've been having a craving for just some fun movies. Don't get me wrong, I love adult dramas and action films, but I've been in a more "lift-spiriting" mood.

based on the cover, this seems to just be a blu-ray version of the dvd set that was released last year or the year before. so yeah, its probably just the theatrical cut in there but dont worry...they'll double/triple dip eventually and include the director's cut.

This cut has been talked about since 2008.

Ridley Scott is the only name that comes to mind when talking about real directors cuts. Tons of new scenes and bonus footage in mass amounts with his films.
Curious that this mentions only 9 minutes. AICN ran a story Monday announcing Rambo 5 not happening and that 12 minutes would be added back in for this release. Not that 3 minutes is a deal maker/breaker, but 9 minutes hardly seems worth a double dip right now.
Remember when "director's cut" actually meant something- as opposed to just reinserting deleted scenes for a double-dip?
Anyway, it's interesting that they are still employing the "Fight Continues" tagline that was added for the original dvd release. It suggests a Rambo 5 could still be in the works, even though Stallone recently said otherwise. I have a feeling he will probably go through with it before it's all over- especially if The Expendables doesn't justify a sequel at the box office.
(Not that I'm complaining. A few more movies set around an older Rambo aren't going to diminish the series any further- especially if they feature some decent action.)

Pass!

i'm the same...now i dont go buying from amazon.com to specifically avoid the french but its because they always have good deals and better prices. but yeah i hate seeing the french on them and i am french myself. lol

Where does it say that?
Where does it say that?
Isn't that a contradiction?
'Includes 9 extra uncut minutes'.
Surely that should be 'Includes 9 extra uncensored minutes of cut footage'.
But that could be anything. It could be 9 minutes of Stallone brushing his hair and making breakfast. Well it could be. It was all uncensored footage, so why not?
It won't be that though. It'll more likely be him hacking through more offal.
I hope it includes the alternate ending where he comes back to the U.S, walks to his Dad's house, knocks on the door and...
"Junior?"
Sean Connery answers the door.
The hilarity continues as they go to a local bar for a beer and end up shooting the s**t.
Literally and repeatedly with M60's for another 8 and a half minutes

If the delete footage is new, and not the same stuff that was on the first release, I'll buy this. I HATE..HATE that cover however, and would need to print out a different one. Why couldn't they use that black and white cover that had Rambo bleeding while holding the knife? That cover was simple, yet rocked.
What's the bet Liongate locks this title to region A only. I hope not, since the first release was region free.
I haven't watched this yet, but I felt the series did degenerate in quality as it progressed. First Blood was a classic, Rambo was something akin to Cameron's Aliens to Scott's Alien and 3 was an abomination. If we continue with the Alien analogy, Rambo 3 skips Alien 3 and goes straight to Alien Resurrection depths. But, I heard nice things about this one, so I will watch it in the extended form.
9 minutes can make a lot of difference to a movie, depending on how it is added. I recently watched the Natural Born Killers Director's Cut Blu-ray and the 3-4 extra minutes adding up to over 150 cuts seemed to make the movie more intense, scary, loony, comical, overwhelming and enjoyable than the theatrical cut.

9 minutes ? it is exactly the same running time of the deleted scenes on the previous dvd release. look like a useless release to me

What a crowded cover. Half of those better be stickers.
What does it mean legend? I dont get that and i agree, why not have BOTH cuts of the film.
Nevermind i just answered my own question
Nevermind i just answered my own question
Looking forward to getting this!
So this does not contain both versions?
The cover art is horrible. I've no problem with the French, the cover itself just looks awful.
I still have not seen this so I think now is the time!
As for French on covers... does not bother me one bit but being Canadian I am used to it. What would bother me more is the rating on the cover like in the UK or Australia.

It says above, this is the "Canadian" cover.
Yes, we get DVDs and Blu-rays with both languages all the time.
I never saw the film, but I'm definitely interested in this director's cut.

I'll get this. I hope its full of many features.
Pity it hasn't got the rest of the extras too!
I wonder if the 9 minutes are more action ( of which there is plenty) or drama. Overall I'm excited about this though.

I only wrote 3 lines of text - it's not that hard to read is it!

Its about time! I always felt the theatrical cut was waaaay too short. First day buy for me!

Half of me is "Woo-hoo!! Go Rambo!!!" but the other half is "Uhm...okay."
figures this comes after i bought the DVD boxset with all 4 movies. but maybe now they'll finally release a blu-ray box since the current one only contains the first 3 movies and the 4th movie is seperate.
