Quote: Get ready to tango with RANGO, a winner with critics and audiences that’s "like nothing you’ve ever seen before" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). Johnny Depp is spectacular as Rango, a kooky pet chameleon who gets tossed into a wild and raucous town in desperate need of a hero. Refreshingly original with eye-popping animation, RANGO is "loads of fun and genuinely funny" (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times).

It's funny i was literally just thinking about this because i have heard about it from various other sites. Other sites list it as having an extended cut though??? I liked this film a lot, i'll be buying it for sure, it was very original and in 2D
I'm not crazy about the color or the cover art though. I think maybe they could have used more of the characters and maybe show the western town DIRT.

I enjoyed this movie a good deal. It wasn't the most consistently funny animated movie, but I loved all of the Western elements, references, and incredibly detailed animation. The action sequences were well done too.
It's not one of the best animated films of all-time but it sure was an excellent film. Most likely buying it.
worst movie ive ever seen. pass
I thought it was a decent film. It wasn't all-that like the critics and some people say, but it was a pretty good movie. The animation was AMAZING! The cover art? Not so much.

You should see more films.

I saw this film and an ironic thing happened in the theatre: the projector stopped playing near the end when Rango is Spoiler seemingly dead while being carried away by insects(?) after being disgraced. Luckily, the projector played the rest of the film. I enjoyed it. The animation is fantastic, there's a good dose of characterization, and it's both funny and trippy. I also loved the film references I "got", like Apocalypse Now. What I mainly didn't like is the somewhat cliched plot. I'm not interested in buying it, but I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again.
I liked the film, but I agree with xXFreakxX that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I will rent the film (wouldn't mind seeing it again), although, a buy? Maybe when the price drops down to $15.
What? The Digital Bits reported a pretty packed set.
Extras on the DVD will include both the theatrical and new extended edition versions of the film, audio commentary on the extended edition (by co-writer and producer Gore Verbinski, head of story James Ward Byrkit, production designer Mark "Crash" McCreery, animation director Hal Hickel and visual effects supervisor Tim Alexander), the Real Creatures of Dirt featurette and deleted scenes (including an alternate ending). To this, the Blu-ray will add the 2-part Breaking the Rules: Making Animated History documentary (includes The Stage is Set and Now We Ride), an additional featurette (A Field Trip to Dirt), the Storyboard Reel Picture-in-Picture viewing mode (on the theatrical version only), a theatrical trailer and a Digital Copy.
Wonder what happened?

That's what I said in my first post, bluray.com has the same thing listed. I've noticed that a few times with paramount titles not having what's initially announced, frustrating

Why would you want a longer version of this ? It was a horrible movie. A lizard cowboy ? Seriously ? Johnny Depp really can't do much beside a Pirate, can he ?

You obviously haven't seen too many Johnny Depp films.

I've seen pretty much everything he's done. Other than Sleepy Hollow, the first 2 pirate movies, and guest cartoon voices, what has he done that's worth anything ?
Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to name a few. Pirates and Sleepy Hollow are not two of his better movies.
Not to mention Cry Baby, Donnie Brasko, Arizona Dream, Public Enemies...He was very good in Sleepy Hollow and nominated for an Oscar for Pirates 1.
