Scream Factory posted the following on their official Facebook page today:
Quote: *BREAKING!* We know you guys have been hungry for a new title announcement from us for awhile...so here's one to satisfy your appetite...
RAVENOUS - the 1999 cannibal film starring Guy Pearce, David Arquette and directed by Antonia Bird - will be coming to blu-ray for the first time come this June with all-new extras planned!
No other details to report at this time. But check back here in next few months for more updates on this exciting project. The original theatrical poster key art will be used as artwork (as seen here).
I have been a champion for
Ravenoussince it was first released. I genuinely think it is the most undervalued, under-seen major studio picture of my lifetime. Fox's original DVD isn't even anamorphically enhanced and they never showed any interest in moving the title to the HD format. Rumors originally pointed to Twilight Time giving
Ravenousits limited edition treatment, but, for my money, Scream/Shout Factory is the better option, even if they aren't planning any significant new extras or a picture restoration (it's not an old enough film for the image quality to have deteriorated all the much yet).

Quote: Capt. But then a frozen stranger named Colqhoun (Robert Carlyle) arrives spinning a terrifying tale of settlers trapped in a cave and forced to eat one another. Using the pretext of survivors needing help, Colqhoun leads many of the fort's men into a deadly ambush, but Boyd escapes, wounded and delirious.
