Quote: From Executive Producers who brought you Quarantine, comes the movie that inspired the terror. A beautiful TV reporter and her cameraman are doing a routine interview at a local fire station when an emergency call comes in. Accompanying the firefighters to a nearby apartment, the news team begins recording the bloodcurdling screams coming from inside an elderly woman's unit. After authorities seal off the building to contain the threat, the news crew, firefighters and residents are trapped to face a lethal terror inside. With the camera running, nothing may survive but the film itself.

Love this film. So glad it's finally being released.
will i ever find this at my local walmart, best buy, or any video store? instead of have to wait like 5 days to get it???
i die to see this!!! so bad!

R2 have a better artwork, i hope this movie come out on BLU RAY too, that's gonna be terrific!
C**ppy Art Work!
I like this a bit better than Quarantine...but enjoy both equally. Why does everyone hate on Quarantine? It for the most part is the same movie...I'll check out what the canadian release has in extra features before considering this.
Gildia wrote: F**king finally! I have been waiting for this film for what seems like forever. It is unfortunate that there is only one special feature, but at least Americans can finally see this film without importing the Canadian or R2 version. I refused to see Quarantine until this was released. The fact that so many tweeny-boppers saw Quarantine and loved it, thinking it was so original, saddens me.
Then again, most people don't know when a film is a remake. I've told people that The Hills Have Eyes and The Last House on the Left are remakes, and they look at me funny. Do people not know who Wes Craven is? I hope to god everyone knows Friday the 13th is a remake. Then again, when people think the killer from the original Friday is Jason it shows you how little most people know about films.
What's so bad about getting the dvd from Canada ? All you have to do is go amazon.ca and order it from there. Simple.

[REC] has never been released in U.S regional parts. *snip*
Gildia wrote: I know people have already said this, but I felt their posts were slightly confusing. [REC] was released in Canada only earlier this year, around the time Quarantine was released in all of R1. It has not been officially released here in America though, so Americans who have it have imported it either from R2 or from Canada. So this technically isn't a re-release.
Ah, perfect! That explains it. Never knew US never saw the release of [REC]. I thought Sony released both Quarantine and [REC] on DVD for both US & Canada. Okay, so it's a "Region 1 re-release but first time in US" type of release :p
Thanks lee09 and Gildia for clearing that up!

I just wanted to add my opinion in terms of the poorly overdone DVD cover that Sony so brilliantly picks for their DVD covers, First:
* Why does it look like its Elisha Cuthbert in the cover instead of Manuela Valesco?
* And why they bother adding an almost look-alike of The Jackal from Thirteen Ghosts to this cover? Ugh. Remembering precisely, that specific infected being was NEVER in the film. Or if it was, it never wore that to begin with, looks like a straitjacket on that women.
When Sony realizes that their just hurting the films reputation by adding such horrendous cover, they'll see themselves pushing back a lot of people from picking up one of the greatest horror films of the 21st century. Those who have not seen it stumble upon that pathetic cover, it'll completely trigger their mind to think, "It looks like a bad DTV disaster / It looks like another Captivity with Elisha Cuthbert". When its totally not.

Been around on R2 for ages with more extras and A LOT better cover! Makes me smile how the have to mention the remake title, just so folks know what it's about. Sad!!
Great film! Okay artwork. Buy it and watch it, guys!
We really need to be reminded of Quarantine every time we look at the artwork? That's pretty low. That's like if the Alien, Aliens and Predator DVDs said "The exciting lead-up to Alien Versus Predator!"
I'm raging at the cover art here folks. Typical.

Damn no blu release? Really want this one.

[REC] has never been released in U.S regional parts. This would be the first Region 1 DVD edition. And of course, expect a double dip of a Special Edition within a couple of months or years after this gets released. I've been eager on importing the 2-Disc Special Edition from Spain but its too pricey.

Heh an amusing comment coming from someone who has a giant poster of The Lost Boys in his sig..
If you consider The Lost Boys a horror movie, you really need to get out more. The Lost Boys is more of an action/ comedy movie compared to a real present day horror movies.

I believe this one came out in January 27 (in Canada at least).

Sony loves playing with the average US consumer when it comes to Blu-ray, not bringing them to its Region A editions is an offense, even though they go out in Regions B, C. Titles include: Nothing But The Truth, Elegy, (this), Fireproof, Brick Lane, Baghead, The Lazarus Project could have easily made it to Blu-ray from SPHE perfectly fine. There just too vague and unappreciative of us.
REC is way better than the c**ppy remake horrible artwork.
WAAAAA! I cherish this film. Im still importing on the 2 Disc Special Edition. The Best Horror Film of the 21st century, period. One of the best reviewed too. The theatrical poster one sheet is beautifully eerie, I dont know what Sony was thinking when they came up with this DVD cover mess.

It's pretty much a shot for shot remake...but this one is WAYYYYY scarier and better acted, screw Quarantine.
Terrible artwork btw, sucks, this was by far my favorite horror film of last year.

That artwork is awful, makes it look like a low budget STV movie. They should've stuck with the regular poster artwork with Manuela Velasco in the dark.
art is ok. I really wanna see this and I loved Quarantine so I'll buy this!
I LOVED this movie, but really not liking the artwork.
I heard this is really good. Not a fan of horror movies though. Cool artwork.
Artwork added
finally! will buy 4 sure

My thoughts exactly (and glad I'm not the only one). Didn't this came out the same time Quarantine came out on DVD? I've seen it for sale and on rental shelves for QUITE awhile. Re-release perhaps?

I like remakes, but Quarantine was ***in' garbage. [REC] was great, though. Good to see it finally get a proper release here in R1.

I will definately be picking this one up.
I bought my R2 dvd like a year ago.

FINALLY! even with Quarantine being shot-for-shot, the original till managed to blow it away!
It's about time! However, there aren't really many special features...R2 has a 2-disc set. Well, I shouldn't complain...
Dang, finally. This was waaay better than Quarantine. It's about time we get an official US release.
It's about time. They should've released this the same time as Quarantine.
Glad the Americans finally got this.

excellent film - R2 has much better extras...
Cool! I still have not seen this (or QUARANTINE, for that matter), but I think I'll blind buy it based on everything I read. Glad I held off on the Region 2.
