Yeah, if you spend half of your time hating your country.
Quote: Don't know why people hated this movie because of its supposed "anti-American" and "anti-military" message.
Gee...I wonder why. Probably the same reason Air America went belly up.
Quote: It wasn't trying to paint the US military as dumb.
No, it tried to paint the military as a bunch of thugs and heathens who do nothing but terrorize and murder local civilians.
Quote: There are some people in the military who abuse their power to protect this country.
As opposed to what? Not use their power and the country gets attacked? Which is what lead to 9/11 in the first place. Pres. Clinton was a dereliction of duty if there ever was one. Al Qaeda was at war with the U.S. since 1996 and we didn't even know it, because Clinton was too busy getting his weasel whacked under the oval office desk.
Quote: What? You think t's not only limited to government officials?
So soldiers over-act and make mistakes? Sure, but they're investigated and dealt with all the time. More than I can say for the terrorists.
Quote: God Bless Mark Cuban and Brian de Palma.
Yeah, and the whole $100K they made from this movie. This movie makes Ishtar look like an Oscar winner.
Oh, don't get me wrong...I love war movies...one of my favorite genres. But I will not buy any of these anti-Iraq War movies, because they're put out by left-wing Hollywood activists. Where have the days gone when Hollywood actually rooted for their country?

So a pro-war movie is okay then? Give me a break. Anyway, this is all getting a bit political so keep it on topic - the DVD.
Haven't seen it, would really like like to.
Patronising c**p deleted.
Did I not just tell you to lay off f this stuff? I couldn't give a f**k about your political views. If you don't want to join Brock give it a rest. I'm serious, I've had more than enough of a few people on here flouting the rules.
Nice Chris. Got your point in then shut down further discussion. Sometimes movies are made to promote conversation. Though I havn't noticed any pro-Iraq war movies released.
Anyways farewell Dave. You were over-the-top many times but I agreed with many of your points

I don't believe I was trying to make a point.
It seems that some people think this is a forum to air their political reviews - it is not. If you don't agree with the film's political message, a simple 'not for me, I didn't agree with the politics' will suffice. I (and most other people) don't want to read an essay on how this film is subverting American culture or whatever else, and I certainly won't put up with someone shoving their personal politics down my throat.
It's quite simple really - this site has long had a rule that excessive political/religious posturing is not acceptable (along with calling people c**ts in every post you make). We have millions of page views and huge numbers of visitors each month and yet I am only familiar with a handful of posters - the ones who keep baiting people with inflammatory posts.

Hey guys lets stick to the subject and not get off topic. Whether you agree with what’s going off over there or not, this site isn’t about your political views. If you’re going to criticise the DVD let it be for the direction, acting, extras or even the cover. There are plenty of other forums you can go on to air your views till your hearts content.
I must admit, I'll have to check this film out to see what all the fuss is about now.

sounds like an interesting film, worth a rental.

Not to be a jerk and continue off topic but if we're talking about war movies that root for "America", I think it should be said that I'm pretty sure those old B&W WWII movies coming out between 1942-1945 (the ones with the GOD AWFUL dialog and acting and cheesy "GI Joe" characters) were actually filmed by the US Army.
Having said that, I think I'll give this a look. Afterall, Brian De Palma gave us The Untouchables. I personally enjoy a well made "the good guys aren't as good as you think"-type movie like Unforgiven, Buffalo Soldiers, or Training Day.

I'm a big Brian de Palma fan and will rent this title to see if I like it.
We could simply say that a movie is one persons view and opinion and allow them to have it?
Poor old Dave - he will have a chance to get his prozac now....
