Phenomenal film. Just as with 'American Beauty' and 'Road to Perdition', Mendes delivers a stunning work of cinema. Definite buy.
I would rather see that instead of "The Reader." Will watch on Blu.
I can't watch this movie again. Once was enough. Don't get me wrong, I love Mendes work up to this point, but this was just a tad too depressing for my tastes.
Missed this one at the theater. Will definitely buy the Blu-ray for Michael Shannon's Oscar-nominated performance!
I've heard polar opposite views and reviews of this movie. Methinks I'll decide for myself after a rental.
Of the 2 Golden Globe winning performances by Kate Winslet, I enjoyed The Reader more. I think alot people like this movie simply because it was the first reuniting of Kate & Leo since Titanic. I did like this though movie and will buy
This has great acting in it from everyone involved, but I just could not get into the story and feel for any of the characters. My least favorite of Mendes' movies. His new one looks better though.
Is Paramount adopting a new pricing policy ($19.99 for the DVD and $29.99 for the BD)? At first I thought this could be a mistake, but then I noticed the same pricing for the DVD/BD of 'Defiance'. However, Amazon has the list price for both 'Revolutionary Road' and 'Defiance' at $29.99 the DVD and $39.99 the BD. Not that I am complaining about the lower prices (quite the contrary). Revolutionary Road is amazing by the way.
This movie was FANTASTIC. It was my favorite of the year, in fact. Definitely buying on the first day.
I really wanted to see this, but by the time it came to my theater, i didn't have time to see it. i've heard it's really long and depressing, but from what i've seen and heard about it, it seems really good. And American Beauty is one of my favorite movies, so if the director of that helmed this movie, it's gotta be good.
Not a favourite of mine. Love all of Mendes films, love Leo but this one was a letdown.
Missed this in the theatre. Will definitely check it out on Blu.
This film was totally overlooked at the Oscar's and should have been nominated over The Reader for sure. I will definitely be buying the blu-ray, although I was hoping for a few more extras.
This was well acted but its kind of a downer and something I could never ever watch twice.
This was one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. The acting was top-notch, but I didn't feel sympathy for either of the protagnists and it's really difficult to like a movie that is so character-driven if you don't feel any sympathy for the characters.
The way I understood the movie, Winslet was using Leo's "Paris love" as an excuse to get something more in her life. Once she understood that he was happy with his promotion, it was like a death knell in her hopes.
2 ways of looking at it... one, go for your heart's desire and don't fall into the usual rut, or be content with what you have, 'cos the grass always looks greener on the other side.
Anyway, hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way, which is why Kate couldn't and just cracked.

Funny though this is one of the longer movie-to-dvd releases in a while, i mean what december to june? It usually takes no more than 5 months these days. The last dvd that i remember took so long was kiss kiss bang bang which was like 10 months
Why in god's name is Paramount waiting till June to release this and Defiance???
Glad they went with the poster for the cover. Great artwork.
This is an stunning film - if admittedly a tough watch (the arguing and possible domestic violence starts within the first 10mins!). It also depends on how much effort you are willing to put into the experience of watching it and ultimately how much you are able to relate to the couple's plight. I'm the same age as DiCaprio's character in this and the general boredom and moment's of feeling like having no direction in life really spoke to me. It's a stunning film but won't be to everyone's tastes.

What about Kate Winslet's Golden Globe-winning performance?

Liked the movie a lot, but no way could I watch it 3 times in a row like the critic promises at the bottom quote.
Really dug this film (and the book of course)- really dislike the quote on the box.
I could definitely watch this three times in a row!
Missed it at the theater, I will give this a rent for sure, great artwork.
Glad they stuck with the poster art.
I am so happy that the poster was used for the coverart because it is just perfect!
Great use of the one-sheet (minus the distracting red text), but surprised they're not advertising the Oscar nominations/Golde Globe win.
Very good cover artwork. Gotta go Blu.
I agree about the artwork, it should ALWAYS be this way, the red text and the quote ("watch-it-three-times-in-a-row masterpiece"
are annoying but it could have been a lot worse (floating heads).
