August 4th marks the Japanese region two release of Rikidozan, the true story of a Korean sumo legend trying to make it big in Japan. The film will be presented in an anamorphic widescreen format with a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Sadly, only Japanese subtitles will be provided. Sony’s collector’s edition will include a making of featurette, unreleased scenes, trailer and more. Those opting for the lavish Genryu box can look forward to private footage of the original Rikidozan, documentary on the original wrestler and action figure. The collector’s edition is likely to set you back ¥4935 ($45.99 from Yes Asia) and the Genryu box is going for ¥10290 at CDJapan.

Synopsis
No man has moved Japan like this hero! The year, 1944. Tokyo is suffering under the weight of World War 2. Rikidozan also suffers the jibes of his fellow sumo wrestlers, simply because he is a "Korean." One day, he meets a young geisha named Aya, and eventually they become husband and wife. After suffering years in the sumo world for being Korean, he tries his hand at the Western pro-wrestling world.
