After a test subject’s baby, Caesar, is orphaned, Will decides to raise him at home on his own with his Alzheimer-stricken father (John Lithgow; “Dexter”). What begins simply as a continuation of his experiment quickly turns into a problem for Will, as Caesar is taken away from him and forced to live in a primate facility. As Caesar’s intelligence continues to grow, he begins to stake his claim as the leader of his new primate counterparts, which will ultimately lead to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

no way that is going to be the final art
i like the cover art. i'm not really at all a APES fan but i REALLY liked this movie. the only complaint i had was at the end it felt like it just started getting going. the movie left me wanting more. i can't wait for the next movie.
What's this? Actually subtle cover art? Blasphemy!
That cover is great.
That cover is great.
The cover is actually really neat. Wouldn't mind having that on my shelf. But it doesn't matter, because I just KNOW the blu-ray edition will be photoshopped and flashy (which isn't necessarily bad, if done right).
Awesome cover art. I was hoping they'd go with the theatrical poster.
I was hoping it was going to be the apes on the bridge looking at the camera. This cover defines lazy, but I still kind of like the ape in the text. Interesting little picture.
I like it, it says to me, we spent all the high tech graphics and effects on the movie, therefore we will make the cover look like it was designed by someone who just started learning photoshop an hour ago. Good work.
I'll eat my hat if that is actually the cover.
I am not saying the cover is bad, that was one of the original theatrical posters, I just really doubt that will be the final cover. Love Apes! Dug this movie! In for the Blu Ray.
Hmmm. I dig it. Could be better, maybe add a quote from a critic, but I could go with it. Great, great movie! One of the best films of the year by far. Andy Serkis has to be one of the best actors of our time. The man has talent for what he does. The movie kept me interested the whole way through, but at the end it made me want more, like it didn't feel like it was the end of the movie. But still an amazing film.
Boring artwork!!! *snore*
I LOVED this movie, but I thought all the posters were awful... this was the most decent of them I think, so I don't mind them using it.
I heard a lot of good things about the movie, but that godawful CGI put me off. I might 'Redbox' it.

I agree. I hated those posters. Still have to see them movie, though.

pitdeadite, the CGI in this movie was AMAZING! i usually end up hating most CGI creations but i must say in this it looks stunning.

I think the problem is that we are too inherently familiar with the way monkey's look, so a CGI representation doing things we normally don't see monkeys doing will always look a bit off. With something like Avatar, Pandora and silly blue people don't actually exist so there is nothing to reference it against.

That is very good artwork but yeah I doubt this will be the final art rember the orignals artwork revealed the twist untill a few years ago(when the collectors ED first came out I thik).
damn...i absolutely love this cover!!! i know it's in the trailer...i don't remember seeing it as a poster.
Didn't see this in theatres. Heard it was really good though.

I hate to be pedantic to a fellow contributor, but they're apes, not monkeys - the clue's in the title...

Pretty solid extras, though I was still hoping for an Extended Edition rather than just the deleted scenes (there was a whole romantic subplot with Caesar and another ape that was completely cut out of the final version). I'll still be getting this on day one, one of the best movies this year.
The new art looks better but it's still very lame. Isn't it weird how Avatar and Rise are these two high-tech/high-budget movies and they still got pretty c**ppy posters? (Remember Avatar's first teaser poster it looked like a blue Angelina Jolie, though the later ones were quite good)

YES! This new cover art is MILES better than the other one.
Must have. I think I own every single Planet of the Apes DVD release. This will be my first Apes blu-ray. With all the movies and shows, comics and books I have I think I must say I am the biggest Planet of the Apes fan I know and I never even thought about it until I realized how much stuff I do have.
It's rare that the US cover actually better than the UK. Love the fact of the side-title be placed. =)
I will be watching this one- loved the movie- it was very solid.
While I may prefer the original artwork, I absolutely love the lack of a Blu-Ray banner. I've always hated that gawdy, obnoxious blue strip.
Very nice modified artwork. I knew there was no way in hell they'd let that tentative one pass.
Just caught this movie last night. Definitely a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be, and the CGI was very well done.

YES! so agree. It's way past time to phase that s**t out.
