Quote: Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richard’s army against the French. Upon Richard’s death, Robin Longstride (Oscar® winner Russell Crowe) travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion (Oscar® winner Cate Blanchett), a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn Lady Marion’s hand and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by their appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff. With their country weakened from decades of war, embattled by the ineffective rule of the new king and vulnerable to insurgencies from within and threats from afar, Robin and his men heed a call to ever greater adventure. This unlikeliest of heroes and his allies set off to protect their country from slipping into bloody civil war
and return glory to England once more.

Quite Easily The Most Boring And Lethargic And Pathetic Film Of The Year .A Genuine "BORING C**P" By 'Master Of Flops' Ridley 'The Boring' Scott.
Historical Drama?

I have, and Boll's commentary tracks are 150% more entertaining than Ridley Scott's Robin Hood.

Here's my problem with that sentence. Robin Hood should NOT BE A HISTORICAL DRAMA! He's a folklore. I don't care about all this history they try to tack on to him, because... I don't care. Robin Hood is best when he's doing what he's known for.
Uwe Boll's commentary and because you "don't care." You really couldn't come up with any better reasons? But anyhow, Robin Hood takes place in history and his tale is full of drama. In fact folklore by definition is historical.
Red and blue borders are not working.

Decent cover art. Im curious to see what that "open for more" tab does on the side.

I'll only buy region1DVD I will not buy the rubbish dtsHDMA bluray I'm done buying bluray now.
This was a pointless movie. The french queen was hot and Russel is a great lead. But other than that... felt like a kiddie-friendly bootlegversion of gladiator in ways.
Not a fan of it. But Scott is a craftman of highest rank.

Hahaha... of course I'm not saying that Scott is as deranged as Shyamalan (u type it 'Shylamalan'? That sounds like some local food here). I'm just giving an example of a fallen director.

Don't lump in R. Scott in with Shylamalan. Scott can still do the occasional good movie, and unlike Shylamalandingdong, even his worst movies aren't pretentious.

I don't get it. If this is supposed to be a Robin Hood prequel, why gave it a title 'Robin Hood'? That is misleading and could make a false expectation from the would-be audience. Why not title it 'Robin Longsride' or whoever his real name was?

As with almost every Robin Hood movie I enjoyed it but it can't top 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' for me. I also really hope they can make a sequel to this but I'm not so sure if that will happen.

P.S. Russell Crowe defines the word: Arrogant.
Quoted for truth. I mean, he walked out on an interview where the interviewer said his accent was Irish. Crowe disagreed and stormed out -- when someone like that storms out over a petty accent, you know he's full of himself. I wonder if he knew the Robin Hood actor before him (Jonas Armstrong) was born in Ireland?
What a douche.

I'm so glad we're getting a Director's Cut! I was hoping we would, since I loved the theatrical cut but it didn't feel quite complete. It'll be the 2 disk edition for me!
The Scenery was really good, showing the time period of the movie; but for a Ridley Scott movie I was shocked on how bad this movie was and the ending was horrible, will not reccomend this movie to anyone.
This film looked like an utterly pointless undertaking from the beginning.
Why bother.

I will give this a shot at home. I didn't really like Gladiator much, but I love Scott for Blade Runner, Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut and Black Hawk Down. I will always be interested in what he does and even if he doesn't match his earlier output, there is no denying the fact that he has made at least 4-5 movies that are masterpieces.
Too much historical detail and too little focusing on the story of Robin Hood. It is like Ridley was more interested in the history than Robin Hood.
Not his best, not his worst...but leagues better than that Costner thing.
I ONLY wish it wasn't a "prequel" Those who have seen it, the ending is what I mean.

Definitely not Ridley Scotts best film but by no means a horrible film. Definitely will be picking up the Directors Cut. His extended cut films always fill in what is missing in the theatrical version. If you haven't seen The Duellists, you have to see it. Truly his best film. Ridley makes the best historical dramas.
Honestly, I am sick as balls of Scott's painfully boring historical dramas.
ZZZZzzzz
An extremely boring and terrible film.

Sadly, "Robin Hood" felt like warmed-over "Gladiator." Scott completely missed the point of the Robin Hood legend. It's pretty to look at, and Cate Blanchett almost always delivers, but I was disappointed. At least it was better than the revolting Kevin Costner film.
Give me the Errol Flynn version and the BBC TV series over this film anyday.

Never saw this one in theaters. I do plan on renting.
Doesn't anyone agree that Ridley Scott has fallen short to impress us lately? I mean he gave us "Hannibal" and "Body of lies". Hannibal was just alright. Nowhere near as good as Silence of the lambs. Pacing was WAY too slow and the story was way too convoluted. The performances were terrific and the gore was great, but still we got a mediocre film. And with "Body of lies". Such a real shame because it started out pretty good, but then as it progressed, it just lost steam. Man, how could your result be mediocre when you have two A-list actors and a director that gave us "Alien", I mean seriously?

Robin Hood: Theatrical Cut is a good film. Not Scott's best by far but a good film still. It's definitely got flaws though.

Gladiator and Black Hawk Down aren't director endorsed. I doubt American Gangster is either. They sure weren't his idea. Black Hawk Down: Extended Cut has only been released in North America and I doubt Ridley Scott even knows it exists. It's the Theatrical Cut (i.e - Director's Cut) with tacked on deleted scenes.
Ridley Scott couldn't appear to hate the Gladiator: Extended Cut any more on the intro to the DVD (for good reason, it adds nothing to the film). I read the Alien: Director's Cut is in fact an Extended Cut but the intro says otherwise. He doesn't seem to mind it at all, even saying he added scenes back in.
I don't know about Legend but otherwise from that list only Blade Runner and Kingdom of Heaven are true director's cuts. Kingdom in Heaven in particular entirely changed the film. It was a major mistake to ever release the theatrical cut.

This definitely wasn't boring, but it's certainly not Scott's best. The Director's Cut isn't an attempt to "correct" the film (well, unless you're Oliver Stone), it's typically an extended cut that was simply deemed too long to run in theaters. I'm willing to bet the Blu-Ray release will feature a much more cohesive cinematic experience, much like the DC of "Kingdom of Heaven" did.
This was boring, but i have never been the biggest fan of these kinds of movies either. And yeh those damn Directors Cuts, get that sh#t right the first time.
I bet a few months after this release we will get "an even more extended cut, the cut that the studio didnt let scott release, with an all new transfer supervised by him" LOL

This looked like c**p but I will give it a try. Might Netflix it or wait a couple of months when it's on TV.
