Don't have Band of Brothers etc so don't know about the packaging, the giant Blue thing on the Blu-Ray can just be slipped off, right?

Yes... The blue cardboard on the Band of Brothers box set slips off so should be the same here...

Yeah, Band of Brothers, True Blood, John Adams, etc. All had the "blu-ray slip" you're referring too.
I never got a chance to catch this series. It looked very promising. Is it worth a Blu-Ray blind buy?

It depends if you're ready for a close-up of male genitals in HD or not.

I preferred I Claudius but theres not much point in a blu ray of that. I gave it a go but it really is a steaming pile of c**p, the script is awful. Shame really as it looks great.
do they really need to keep putting the "plays only on blu-ray players or PS3" stickers and warnings?
i mean really....i realize there are people who are stupid enough to believe a dvd player would work but they're a small minority, especially with how mainstream blu-ray has gotten.
