The only one that is any decent is "Saw III", the rest are horrible.

I disagree. Saw 2 was enjoyable, escapist and moved along at a good pace. Saw 3 was boring, boring, boring. There's only so much you can do with four characters. There was no twist, and if that ending was supposed to be a twist, then the writers need help. The photography and the style felt like a parody of the first two Saw films. Everything was so dark that I could barely pick out details. The brain surgery scene was neither shocking or gross, as it was just a medical procedure. The rib-cage ripper was cartoonish and uninteresting. Gah! Saw 3 was one of the most disappointing films I've EVER seen. I can't compute how annoyed I was with the film. And if anybody tries to tell me that there was subtext, I'm going to have an Ultimate Showdown of Destiny on your ass.

neither of the sequels had a 'twist'; they were both utterly predictable.
The second one was predictable, but I liked it anyway. The third one ties together nicely, but while it's not predictable I don't think it was a huge surprise. Of the various reveals in Saw III I liked the last one most. The best part of the movie, however, was the first seven or so minutes, the pre-credit sequence, which almost made me jump up and down in the theater. Squirm-tastic!

nice package!!!
i hope the make it for R1

Nice package, but where's the commentary on Saw 1? Frankly, Saw 1 is my favorite, due to the likeable characters, Saw 2 was terrible, and I have yet to see Saw 3 (though I will).
The first one was great, the second was medciocrity personified, and I haven't seen the third yet.

Trilogy? If it were only stopping in the third installment. Why not a SAW 8th-drilogy. LOL seriously.
SAW series are already a joke.

As usual, the UK gets all the cool stuff.
I can't really see the point in this other than the studio trying to squeeze more money out of people - we know there is a 4th movie coming and most people if they wanted any of these would have them by now....
Quote: SPOILERS!
There are spoiler tags you know. Anyway, that wasn't the twist. The twist was that Spoiler Jigsaw's previous victim was now his protégé.

But there's a fourth one on the way? Does that mean a quadrilogy will be out next year?
The Missus dragged one of us to see Saw III at the cinema, with the preparation of screening the first two in advance. The makers of the Saw movies do like nicking the odd thing from Dario Argento, don't they? (specifically, the use of a creepy puppet ala Deep Red and the bullet-through-the-spyhole gag from Opera).
Images from Don't Go In The House must have stayed with them when they saw it, as the freezing-room sequence from Saw III had strikingly similar visuals, albeit using the polar opposite in climate.
The thing that bugged the most about Saw III was that it negated the entire premise of the movies, in that the poor schmucks who are targeted for the lessons actually learn nothing through them, as the fates of those from the previous films are revealed to be erring on the dead side of things. With the predicable "choice" at the end of Saw III and even the outcome of Jigsaw's protege, it means that none of the main players learned anything at all.
There is speculation that the fourth movie is a prequel, and it might be that with nowhere else to go with it, they are trying to undo some of the damage Saw III has done to the reputation of the series. OK, there are those who say that it "raises the series to a level which makes the trilogy a fully-rounded, cohesive story", but just linking disparate events to other characters is not that ingenious.
It's not c**p, but it does the others (especially the first movie) an injustice.

With a 4th one on the way, you know an anthology package is on the way...
i nedd download this movie
cool packaging. i hope R1 dvd has the same artwork.
Terrible movies, just terrible. Any movie that uses gore for gore's sake is terrible. You want a good thriller that treats its audience like intelligent individuals then see Se7en.

In terms of serial killer movies like Saw, the only ones necessary are, in order:
Manhunter,
Silence of The Lambs,
and Seven.
Everything has been said with those movies. They are the final word. Let's move on with our lives.
