I dont care, I still want to see a movie as close to what the director intended, without the confines of censorship.[quote]
100% agreed
I'll pass on the blurays. My DVD collection works fine for these films unless I get a great deal to upgrade. I noticed the fact that these are availble on blu in Canada too.

I'm nostalgic, wasn't aware of your region.

Why would you track down the laserdisc when you can get it on DVD with better quality from another region? heh.

I'm pretty happy with the Alliance trilogy set I got even if it's not the best choice out there but I'll keep an eye on their releases and compare them more with American releases in the future.

I think Echo Bridge gets to release certain Miramax movies (The Scream Trilogy were released by Miramax under the Dimension label). The Weinstein Company has never actually distributed their own DVDs and Blu-Rays. Genius Products used to release them, then Sony Pictures, and now I've heard that Anchor Bay is releasing TWC films (they will do the DVD/Blu for The King's Speech, for example).
I hope that answers some questions people might have.
ah...well that was informative, thanks. so i guess my dreams of a Scream 6 movie collection (assuming 5 and 6 get made) are crushed forever now. lol

Will buy right away. One of my favorite trilogies, if not my favorite. Glad the same extras from the DVD's will be transfered to the Blu-rays. I'm hoping the first one has the uncut version.
I liked these back in the day, at least the first 2 but I don't see myself watching these over and over.

you got suckered by Alliance. they do this all the time here in canada, they release movies on blu-ray that they have the rights too over here but its always bare bare bone versions. i dont know about Scream but other movies are so bare they dont even have a menu or anything.
so yeah if you see a movie by alliance on blu-ray, check the back and make sure its an official american release from the original studio. the sad thing is they covers are usually the same so i'm sure many people are being fooled by these. i personally just avoid these movies until i hear about an american release. Alliance tends to stick to New Line and Dimension though so its easy enough to keep an eye on them. they also tend to sell the movies for reeally cheap so i can see why they do well. there's a Blade collection that i almost bought because it was only like 20$ but then i realized it was Alliance so i didnt pick it up.
as for the other person's comments towards me.....it didnt even click that the article says Lionsgate so yeah, i guess that does screw up any box set potential. when the hell did they even get the rights? i mean Dimenison is still around and all, how come they dont have the rights and release this?

Where are all the new extras these releases have been screaming out for for years? Where's the Unrated version of Scream? Special Edition Trilogy Box Set to tie in with the DVD/Blu-Ray release of Scream 4 later this year?

they seems to contain a lot of the extras from the original trilogy collection so thats good too. though i'm a sucker for box sets so i may wait for the inevitable 4 movie collection....course with my luck Part 5 and 6 will come as they hope anyway. lol
One problem with that 4-movie collection: The home video rights for the first three Scream movies are owned by Lionsgate & StudioCanal. The HV rights for Part 4 are owned by The Weinstein Company and Starz Media.
