Uch... I've already got the R4
nice. I really liked this flick but kept myself from getting the DVD, knowing a doubledip would come eventually since other regions were getting special editions and we weren't
If it's got enough extra minutes, I'll pick it up. Just a bunch of extra features wouldn't be enough for me. Unless of course there's a documentary on how they're bringing it back to TV.
Might finally get this, have seen the film but never got around to buying the DVD.
Wow, DTS. Universal hasn't done a DTS track in awhile, on standard DVD that is. I remember when almost every release either had a DTS track or a seperate version with a DTS track and just less bonus features.
What? NO!
Universal, if this is just about double-dipping on your title for no good reason (such as not promoting a sequel), then shame on you!
The 2005 release was excellent -- good transfer and all the extras were good. However, if the DVD art was better and it included more commentaries and such, I might get it when it's cheap.

Great! I'll pick this up just for the DTS track.

I'll pick this up even if they only change the cover art. If it sells well enough, you never know, it might get a sequel. Be it direct to DVD or a made for TV movie. I don't care HOW we get more Serenity/Firefly, just give it to me!!
I own the HD-DVD Version of this movie....I love it.
Whedon did say that a special edition was coming forthwith on whedonesque, and that the DVD will feature a cast commentary (depending on how many who come), the short film "The Tam Sessions" and brand-new custom DVD artwork. There will be other extras, whether will most of them be ported over from the R2 release has yet to be determined.
I'm so buying this no matter what is on it or what the cover art looks like. Although I'm really hoping that cast commentary rumor is true!
Consider me sold! Such a tragically under rated (and under performing) movie. It's gonna have to sell a lot of copies though to prompt a sequel from the studio. Despite big DVD sales and a huge cult following, it just didn't cross over to the masses.
I will be picking this up.

It will be on the DVD, Joss said it himself.

Of the UK R2, R4 and R1. The R1 is currently lacking the most, the UK R2 and R1 are about the same but the UK R2 got a wee bit more extras. Some of those R4 extras recording in Australia so personally I suspect they'll stay Aussie exclusive. Just a hunch though.
This re-release looks nice but I'd wait and get the HD-DVD now (European version, it's been tweaked to look even better than the R1).

I'll pick it up even though I have the original 1 disc version.
This will probably be my first double dip if this edition is good.
Fantastic film! I just hope the special features are well done and the artwork is good.
DTS for "Serenity"? Enough said. i NEED this. This will be a triple-dip for me - we've got the R1, the R4 tin (also got it signed by Alan Tudyk when he was on Broadway in March) and now this... And I'll gladly shell out for Joss Whedon-y goodness.
Yes, I'm one of *those* people.

Sa-weet. I'm there.
"Goin' on a year now I ain't had nothin' twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries!"
"Oh, GOD! I can't be hearin that!"
Too funny.

Reasons why I'm going to buy this:
One: Joss Whedon is the most over-creative, under-appreciated artist in today's entertainment industry. He deserves the kudos of huge home-video sales.
Two(and this one's linked): the more we buy, the more Universal make, and the more chance of a sequel film/ series. (Yes, I'm clinging to a nanometer-wide thread here, but think positive!)
Three: DTS. I'm picky, and I likes me some higher-bitrate sound (the current releases are 386kbps Dolby, and that's good but not great)
Four: Commentray. If the Firefly commentaries are anything to go by, this one will be a hoot.
Five: The Tam Sessions web vids. They make that freaky kid from The Ring seem like a well-adjusted nun-to-be.
Six: Extras. Any new Serenityness draws me like a moth to a flame. A warm, cuddly and oh-so-comforting flame.
I already have the Region 2 Special 2 Disc Edition. "No such thing," you say! "Check for the German release. Yup," I reply with a smug glee:D But this one's a keeper. Hell, I'd be tempted to buy the HD-DVD version just for future, but I reckon an upscaling player moots that one.
Ta-ta.

This will hopefully be besides my Firefly boxset (which by the way, I haven't even opened)...
DTS?! You said the magic word!
I want the SE. I love this film.

I'm in total agreement. DTS is enough for a double dip. Universal needs to get back to the days when all there releases had DTS tracks.

I have the original release but it only cost me 10 dollars so I may consider buying this. It is one of my favorite movies ever.
If the disc is loaded with features, I may have to upgrade from the original release.
I watched the outtakes on my 1-disc DVD the other and I was cracking up. I will be buying this double dip.
