They should just put every release in a blank case with just the title from now on. Then people might actually talk about the movie a bit more than b***hing about the artwork with every new release that comes out. Admittedly it's not great, but is it really the most important aspect of a bluray release?
Why oh why do they continually insist on putting that ridiculous 7 in there?
Whilst it is tempting, my R1 DVD special edition is pretty good.... maybe when it hits the cheapie bin....

Is this just too cool for this release?? http://www.moviegoods.com//Assets/product_image...
I believe the UK video release used this artwork.

It's been out for months in Canada (but open matt 1.78:1) and Holland (but only a BD25, no extras and somewhat expensive). There's no release with the extras. As this film is so great, I was happy to wait.
The UK Warner release is coming in October. It's unlikely to have the digi-book, which is good IMO. They take up too much room. It's only £12.59 from Amazon.co.uk.

It doesn't say if you've managed to bag a very early review copy or the Dutch BD though.

Not in the US area buddy. This would be the first release on Blu-ray in the states.

Dammit, why couldn't this come out September 7th? Then that would be awesome! I've never seen the film (stone me now), so I'll probably pick up this digi-book. Never owned a BD digi-book (stone me again), so this is perfect.
Wow, I'm away from DVDActive for a little while, and look what pops up. Guess I'll have to set aside some dough to get this on release day....
What are yez all going on about? The artwork peaked with EIV's first DVD release. It was a ting of baa-yoo-ty.
Have to get this ASAP. No question. Come the release date, getting it will be as automatic as breathing. Has to be done. In fact, it would be a sin not to re-buy this.

I think the artwork would be much better if all the words were white instead of red, like the 2 disc dvd. The red just makes it look like some cheap little splatter movie.

Seven is a downer no doubt, but I can watch it again and again. Not the case with Requiem for a Dream. That movie was so damn depressing that I immediately watched Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes after it. Somehow, the thought of watching a Hitchcock black and white mystery seemed comforting after watching Requiem. I wince even thinking about Requiem!
As for Antichrist, I really don't know if I liked it or didn't. I know I want to watch it again, so I probably liked it. The really unwatchable Von Trier movie is Dogville. Another movie I can never watch cos it is so disturbing. Well, maybe I can watch just the last 10 minutes again!

I like the digibooks. It would be annoying if they did it with every movie, but it looks nice on classics. The only blu-ray boxes I haven't liked were the flimsy eco-friendly Baraka packaging and the sleeved foldout boxes that Criterion's early blu-rays came in.
That artwork doesn't drive me mad but it is awfully generic.

i love the movie wont double dip though but i heard of the digibooks

Having said that, I imagine that this release will look slightly better thanks to being on a BD50.
This release or the Dutch BD?

Hmmm, I guess I'm in the minority as I rather like that cover art. Admittedly, it's not as good as the Criterion Laserdisc or New Line Platinum DVD...but I think the red works very well.
Anyhoo, as soon as Amazon have this up I'll be pre-ordering...it's my favourite film of all time, like.

The original 2 disc set was amazing with very nice coverart. I too feel that they should have used it.
I do not have any digi-book Blu-rays. Hopefully this will come out in a standard case, with a softcover version of the booklet in it, similar to the Natural Born Killers DC blu-ray.
This was one amazing movie. The first of one in Fincher's one-two punch, with Fight Club following!
Now, why is it that The Game is the only Fincher movie (not considering Alien 3) that does not have a Fincher-treatment DVD? The R2 2 disc set is fine, but really, we need Fincher to make a good release of this movie.

about effing time!!! i was seriously just wondering to myself today when this was going to be released on blu.
The cover looks exactly like the Jim Carrey movie, "Number 23" but without his scraggly face on it. Same font and everything. Such a shame.
It's nice to see this will have the features of the 2 disc dvd, the already available blurays (canadian and dutch) don't have any. Though the dutch release does retain the original aspect ratio from what I've read.
Seven is a fantastic movie, I remember the first time I watched it, I was at home watching the dvd on my own. For the moment my 2 disc dvd will suffice but at some point I will get the bluray. In regards to the artwork I'd have gone with the Pitt/Freeman poster, well you can always create and print your own.

The R1 realese had better artwork. This one looks like c**p. A step better than floating heads but still c**p
I don't know if Im going to get into trouble for posting this, but if anyone wants to hear the original Criterion commentary that was never ported over from the laserdisc, then go here...

An excellent film. The R1 New Line Platinum Series Edition is among my favorite DVDs and was quite a remarkable release back then. I will most probably get this BD edition, bummer about the artwork though.
I am aware that Se7en has been out in Canada (1080i, non-OAR) and Netherlands (1080p, OAR).

This movie is already out on blu-ray and has been for sometime. So if you only care for the movie then it's out there.
Some people seem to like these gimmicky, fragile, cardboard Digibooks.
Just give me the movie in 1080P with a unified Blu-ray case, please.
I don't need a flimsy book with pretty pictures.

This is going to ROCK on Blu Ray. Cant wait.
I totally agree that that artwork is absolutely hideous. I know this sounds stupid, but artwork is a huge deal for me. Maybe it's a psychological thing, I don't know, but if I saw this blu-ray sitting on my shelf with this artwork, it just would never occur to me to watch the film. There's just something off-putting about it. However, if it had the artwork of the previous DVD Special Edition and Criterion Laserdisc or (heaven forbid) the VASTLY SUPERIOR original one-sheet that has NEVER been used as a home video cover...I'd be pulling it off my shelf a lot more. Maybe it makes sense and maybe it doesn't, but artwork does matter. And this is really atrocious.

I LOVE bluray books, they are just a really great companion piece, especially when dvds have been skimping on ANY form of inserts since 2003. I just don't think I'd buy this though. It comes on tv a lot and i just dont think it has the best replay value, i do like the film though.
Artwork fail. Why not just copy the books in the bloody film?
