Apple and oranges.
For the most part the extras used on Blu are NOT native to the format. It's about depriving DVD owner; an arm twist to upgrade. What makes it worse is the fact that Blu-Ray isn't the breadwinner, DVD is. It's like you're at the starting line of a city marathon. The starter's pistol is fired and as everyboody takes their first step a winner is declared and given the key to the city by the mayor. Everybody is shocked, confused and pissed. HE/SHE didn't win the race, but officials are acting as if the person did. This is how we, DVD owners feel. Blu-Ray hasn't earned that position to take away materials.
By the way, don't compare VHS to DVD, please. Not the same, at least both DVD and Blu are optical - not magnetic. The upgrade was so obvious, no actual argument could be made for cassette. And that upgrade required just a player, not a new television and gear. How riled up would Blu-Ray owners become if they saw a fellow playing Blu movie on a tube TV? No audio system attached, just the television's speakers.
I've been accused of hating Blu-Ray. I don't, it's just another format. What bothers me is the mentality of those make who them. A kind of arrogance. Blu isn't King, stop acting like it is. The mind set boarders on elitism.

Blu-Ray sucks. I've heard lots of people say that when you compare it to a standard DVD, there isn't that big of a difference, they look the same. As far as Sherlock Holmes goes, why couldn't they at least squeeze the deleted scenes onto the DVD, as many bare-bones DVDs only include deleted scenes.
Pythonofdoom, why don't you sit this one out, before you humiliate yourself further.
Anyway, this film is many things, but never "boring". I enjoyed seeing it in the theater, but it doesn't particularly warrant repeat viewings. Might rent it again in five years!

BD will come to those that wait - and I will wait
I didn't like this movie. It was like "Sherlock Holmes for people with ADD." But most of my friends loved it. =P
seriously?
dude, this movie is anything but boring...
its action/adventure packed and is something you CANNOT get bored with.
you can have your own opinion, but i think you're making a big mistake in excluding this movie from your favorites
Watson: Get that out of my face.
Holmes: Its not in your face, its in my hand.
Watson: Get what's in your hand out of my face.

Are they really f'ing over fans who haven't upgraded to blu-ray ? I don't recall this same argument when DVD started. VHS was, at the time, THE format. I don't remember people crying that dvd was having more features, of features at all, when VHS was popular. Neither do I remember any outrage over the features of laserdisc over VHS.
