Quote: A contemporary take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories, Sherlock is a thrilling, funny, fast-paced adventure series set in present-day London. Co-created by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Coupling) and Mark Gatiss, Sherlock stars BAFTA-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (Hawking, Amazing Grace) as the new Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman (The Office, Love Actually), as his loyal friend, Doctor John Watson. Rupert Graves plays Inspector Lestrade. The iconic details from Conan Doyle's original books remain – they live at the same address, have the same names and, somewhere out there, Moriarty is waiting for them. And so across three thrilling, scary, action-packed and highly modern-day adventures, Sherlock and John navigate a maze of cryptic clues and lethal killers to get at the truth.

Sounds ineresting, I'll probably blind buy it!
Has this aired over here yet?
A truly excellent first series. Smart writing and superb acting. Was very worried about this initially, especially coming so soon after the Guy Richie movie but 10 minutes in I was hooked. Pick this one up, Americans, you won't be disappointed...
Dreadful stuff.
This was surprisingly amazing.
The guy who plays Sherlock looks and sounds like a young Snape (Alan Rickman)

I enjoyed it a lot, but I am concerned it might eventually turn into something formulaic like Merlin. The second feature/episode being the main concern.
I want to see this one
This is supposed to air on PBS in the states this October. I love Steven Moffat's work on "Doctor Who" so this should be pretty good.
Region 2 UK will be released August 30th. priced £11.85. Through Priceminister this can come down to £6.85 with voucher.
Fantastic stuff -- ten times better than the ghastly RDJ film. Thought it would be c**p, but ten minutes in I was hooked. Nice price, too -- not as costly as other imports.
