I loved it. Easily the best of 2010 so far.
I'm on the same boat as most of the comments seen here. While I try not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it:
Great movie but the ending was a let down. Viewers whose seen movies like asylums, crazed people and so on, knows this sort of cliche ending. I really did enjoy Leo's last line at the very end of the movie.
Well directed and great acting but the ending is unfortunately, the down fall to this movie(for those who are use to watching movies similar to this one)

One of the few good covers with a floating head.- Love Leos look and the match.
The movie was so-so though, but with a really great ending scene.

That's a gigantic floating head!!! I'll rent.
THis movie was incredible. Can't wait to pick it up.
The movie started to be good and intriguing, but the ending spoiled all. Honestly the ending was a basic concept in my head at first, how I wish the ending will turn out different, but it didn't...

Matt, you just took the words out of my mouth. I LOVED this movie, but boy, how cliche the ending was. I won't spoil anything on here, but man, Scorsese is known for making CLASSIC movies. I mean, damn, the ending has been done in films such as Spoiler High Tension, The uninvited, and Beyond a reasonable doubt . Nevertheless, I love this movie. I am SEVERELY disappointed in the lack of extras for the Blu-ray disc. Whether I'm going to buy the movie or not is still unconfirmed at this moment, but Paramount, I'm disappointed.
The difference is, all of those movies suck. I agree that the ending is a little underwhelming just because its been done before, but it works well in this movie. I felt like this was a movie I had seen before, but it was done incredibly well by comparison. Leo put in a great performance. Can't wait to hear this movie's soundtrack in uncompressed 5.1 as well.
Well, I do agree the ending fits the movie, but still, I thought it was sort of meh. I mean if it were another director, fine. But Scorsese? That's like a low for him.
And we all have different opinions, but you thought High Tension sucked? I thought it was one of the best horror movies ever. I mean you have a strong script, great characters, and amazing gore for bonus points. I mean even critics ate it up. Oh well, each to their own.
It's easily the best movie in that post, and it does satisfy on a visceral level, but I wouldn't call it a very good film. I like it enough though. I got a copy of it sitting somewhere around here

The ending wasn't supposed to be a twist, though I can see why some people wouldn't pick up on it. They lay the groundwork for the twist throughout the whole movie, so when the twist does occur, it's more of a "finally!" rather than an "ohhhhh." It was the same in the novel. Scorsese is too smart a filmmaker and Lehane too smart a writer to try and make that twist ending a revelation.

Insanely boring. It took everything I had not to fall asleep in the cinema.
I loved the ending, if anything it's one of the better anti-climax ending we have had recently. I agree that's it's no masterpiece, but IMHO it's a good film nonetheless.
Though, the amount of extras on BD are quite insulting. Meh.

I thought the ending worked. It's not as if it just came out of nowhere, but it was hinted at through the editing, certain close-up shots, et al.
Shame about the lack of extras for the DVD and paltry ones on the BD release. But then again, Paramount's been horribly uneven when it comes to bonus materials from the get-go. It's only c**ppy movies like "Transformers" and big-name franchises that get the good extras.
Bad form, Paramount. Bad form.

I admit it was well done BUT i just wish movies could conclude with an actual conclusion and not a twist. I know this is based off a novel, but when a movie sets up a story like this i just want to see how another ending might have worked. To me sometimes having a twist is a cop out. Its like they couldnt figure out how to finish the story they have been setting up so they go this route. I didnt hate the ending, but i would have LOVED to see it go a different direction. As it stands this ending ALMOST made me not care for the rest of it.
Disappointed with the ending, but the rest of the film was good.
Some parts of Leonardo DiCaprio look a bit crooked in the cover but I do agree that it was great to use the poster as the artwork.
I actually missed out on this one when it was in theaters. I heard great things about it from friends and I actually like it that DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese work on a movie together. Heard though that "The Departed" was better, but you know what...who knows? It's definitely a Netflix purchase.

*sigh* It's Paramount...I'm afraid. I wish they did do Blu-Ray/DVD Combos.
More like will there be a digital copy?

Great to see they used the poster art. Yay Paramount! Have you finally learned?
I wish I would've seen this in theaters. No one would go with me. So I'll enjoy it from the poshness of my living room with an anti-social frame of mind.

Disappointed at the bare bones DVD release, but this movie was so good that I'll pick it up regardless. This was such a surprising and thrilling movie experience. The twists were unbelievable.
Glad they used the Theatrical Poster for the cover. Very nice!
loved this. will buy on first day.
Loved this! Will be getting.
I will definitely rent it on Blu-ray. Seems well-made, and I love Michelle Williams.
Could have been a lot better for a DiCaprio/Scorsese film. No where near as great as The Departed, but I still enjoyed the film. Rent it first, then go from thre.
Updated with disc specs
This movie was terrible. I had the twist figured out within the first 10 minutes. It tended to drag on and on.
I've always been a big fan of Scorsese, with Taxi Driver being one of my all time favorite films. I thought this was a well crafted psychological thriller, and it's definitely nice to see Marty stepping out of his comfort zone. Leo was fantastic in this as always and I love Michell Williams. This is a definite purchase.
really enjoyed this, looking forward to getting the dvd provided it isn't a bare bones copy.
