I thought this film was pretty decent. It didn`t have the tightest plot, but the visuals were nice and there were a bunch of good scares. I won`t be buying it though.

I lvoed this movie and the game. 9/10
I loved the game but hated this movie. The visuals looked quite good every now and again and some o the atmospheric stuff worked quite well but overall the film was just ridiculous. It wasnt scary at all and Sean Beans character was a complete waste of time. Worst bit of all - The 'Fosse' nurses at the end. I actually burst out laughing at the cinema.
Ah, I loved the movie, loved the score, to me I thought it was a good movie. I'm a hardcore fan of Silent Hill, and I can't wait for its release. Glad that its going to contain an extended scenes and deleted scenes. So excited to watch them!
We loved this movie. It had some really creepy and eerie moments.
Only thing about the dvd cover though....on a couple sites it has showed the cover art which is cool, but there are 2 prices printed on the bottom right corner for some reason. I hope Sony is not going to leave that on there because that will freakin' suck!
Awesome movie though.....maybe Sony will make a sequel.

I loved this movie. There were a lot of awesome scenes such as the Pyramid Head scnenes and the Janitor crawling around scene.
Is is an awesome movie, now for the so called addict and lovers of and fans of the game who hated the movie, they must think twice before calling themselves fans or lovers of the series because this movie is the closest and most faithful game to movie adaptation until now, as for those who couldn't understand a thing from the story they just have to play the 4 games of the serie and then rewatch the movie to catch the plot and that way they will enjoy the movie much better. As for the DVD I once read that a 150 min version used to exist before cutting it down to 127 for theatrical release. If that is true I just hope that they wilol release an complete extended edition for the movie like Gans did with Brotherhood of the Wolves and believe me extended editions can change the whole look of a movie (ex. Lord Of The Rings, Kingdom Of Heaven, Brotherhood of the Wolves etc.)
---they just have to play the 4 games of the serie ---
Oh nice. So to enjoy the film you have to find all 4 games, buy them, play them all and then you'll be okay?
Puts me off quite frankly! A film should work as a film. Especially as not all the games are on all consoles.

it would be cool if they released a DVD/BD bundle
one of the greatest horror films of the past 10 years. It was so well done. The only reason why people hated it, was probably because they didn't understand it.

Well you are right but the movie wasn't initially made for those who are not fans and addicts of the series, I mean even Christopher Gans got the rights to produce the movie after sending an interview to Konami telling them how much Silent Hill meant to him but I still think that none fans can still enjoy the beautiful directing and images...
Know about the lenghth of the movie and according to imdb trivias about Silent Hill "The initial script of the film was expected to be 3 and a half hours. As stated by Director Christophe Gans in an interview. The version we see in theaters is in fact the one he wanted us to see"; does this mean that there will be a very extended version, let us hope so.

I thought this was a pretty well done horror film. I loved the creepy tone of the movie and thought there were some geuninely creepy moments. No, it will not win any awards but I'll probably pick it up.
I still want to see it. Missed it in the theaters.
I guess the people who found it confusing didn't pay attention during the THIRTY-MINUTE LONG FLASHBACK THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!
Just kidding.
I've never even touched a Silent Hill game before but it didn't stop me from enjoying every single minute of the movie. Except the ones where we hear "SHARON!!!!" "SHARON!!!!" "SHARON!!!!" which is like 90% of the movie but barring THAT...it's a great horror flick that reminded me of Jacob's Ladder--and that's never a bad thing.

Gee, Bibi. For a film only directed to fans of the video game, it sure opened on a heck of a lot of screens (just shy of 3,000 in the US.) If it was only directed towards gamers, it would've gone DTV and been in every EB Games store.
Good films are stand-alone, sequels excluded. You should never have to have pre-knowledge of something before you see the film to understand it. When films are based upon books, they don't assume every filmgoer is going to have read the book - they provide you with everything you need to enjoy the film, back stories, a plot, sometimes a resolution... etc.
Movies based upon games are just like movies based upon books - it shouldn't require any kind of pre-knowledge of the games to enjoy the film.

Jeremy, yeah, I paid much attention to the film and felt jipped by the hour or so of WTF is happening, followed by a simple explanation. Then the movie decided it had a plot about the people in the church, and continued with it. Just seemed like it cheated a little, that's all.

Great movie, but I have to wait until Blu-ray to get it. It's going to be a really difficult wait. November is a long way off for that PS3. I'm only hoping it's a better Blu-ray player than the PS2 was a DVD player.
Saw it, and think I understood it, but still did not like. Don't planon playing any of the games. I'm just a Brotherhood of the WOlf fan (kind of....sort of....I wish I saw the uncut version...gotta buy the Canadian version...)
i didnt see this one in theaters... but I'm getting it on dvd :D
Did I see the same movie as you guys? I thought this was one of the worst movies I had seen in recent memory, terrible acting, horrible plot, and to top it off they add a c**ppy video game style ending, "You've beaten the adventure, now here is your reward- a cut scene!"
3/10 (two for atmosphere, one for the pyramid head)
And yes, I "got it", unfortunately, there wasn't much to get, it should have stayed a video game. I'm sorry, I am just baffled by the praise for this film.

This is late news, ********.com has been having the news for days, and with dvd cover art already. which btw the cover art is horrible.
As an avid fan of the series, this film was not a good one, but it really succeeds in making the gamer completely satisfied, and it did for me.

Artwork for the widescreen/full screen and Blu-ray releases now added...
Can you say, "S**TTY ART!" Should have went with the fog poster. Now that was nice.
Wow great high quality covers, everyone is hoping that this is not the final cover art, because I can also say that is quite hideous. And in the Blu-Ray cover that quote at the bottom should be revomed why not leave "Once you enter Silent Hill there is no turning back"? Is better then any "wannabe" critic quote.
Loved the movie. It's about time.
The fog poster was awesome! WTFH!
Really like that Ad, it really outstands the movie and it is right that the film out-performed V for Vendetta, Inside Man, etc...
I wonder what are the foreign languages on the DVD, I hope a spanish track can be found.
