To celebrate 75 years of Mickey Mouse, Buena Vista are releasing two special DVD sets. The first is Silly Symphonies which features 31 uncensored animated shorts released between 1929 and 1939, including six Academy Award winners. Introductions to selected shorts including the Water Babies and Wynken, Blynken and Nod come from Walt Disney himself and provide a fascinating insight into the making of the shorts. Respected film historian Leonard Maltin also introduces his favourite shorts highlighting their influence on later animations and cartoons. Extras will include a look into the Disney archives, as well as a look at rare merchandise and theatrical posters. It will also include an overview from Academy Award  winning composer Richard M Sherman. This two disc set will have an overall running time of 340 minutes (Disc 1 - 169mins, Disc 2 - 171mins).
