No seperate stories?
Well, I'll buy it anyway. That was faster than I thought it'd be. It'd be like March before we got this.

Arghh!
Bugger, can't believe they included the theatrical cut as well. That'll piss people off. There will be a lot of copies on eBay come December .
Sin City Extended
WOW! 23 minutes added, I love extended cuts! I am so glad I didn't buy the first edition. I'm gonna get this and wave this in front of my friend's face and tell him he shoulda listened to me along with the extended cut of AvP rather than buying the 1st editions of each the days they came out...
They told people that this was coming out, so everyone who bought it knew they'd have to buy the director's cut if they wanted both. however, they didn't say that it would include the theatrical cut.
I of course knew this was coming but I bought the other dvd anyway cause I didn't want to wait. Plus it was only $15. This comes out a day after my b-day so it will make a nice present for me.
Looks like another terrific addition to my Christmas Wish List!
The description for the new cut is 'recut and extended theatrical release, seperated into four stories (approx 147 minutes)'
I'm getting this... How many discs is this gonna be?
SIN CITY (2005)
Are u fucking kidding me! I knew this was coming but less than 5 months after the original release! That is rediculious. But alas I will sell my old copy and pick this one up...
As has been said, we all knew the new version was coming out, so there's no reason to get too upset. Actually, I'm glad to see it's coming out so soon as it's one of the discs I've been waiting for most. Yeah, I do wish they would have mentioned that the new set comes with the theatrical version as well. But who am I kidding, I like the film enough that I would have bought the first disc anyway.
Cool im glad i held off on the original cut
Yes a definite pick up. love this movie and its a good thing i wated for this to come out

Can't wait to see the artwork! As for the extended cut, I'm not really bothered, I will just buy the theatrical cut, I'm in the UK. The reason I am buying the DVD is cos I saw what I liked in the movie theatre, hence I want to buy the theatrical cut. I cannot be bothered with a whole new extended cut.
I am so excited about this title. I haven't bought the first release and now so soon this is coming out. I wish it was even sooner actually.
I can't wait to see the four seperate stories.

I may be mistaken, but I'm almost positive they said it'd include the theatrical cut. I know I'd "heard" that somewhere months ago. I think I read it in one of the rodriguez interviews, actually...

Maybe it's been said recently, but when I first heard about it the release was gonna be three separate stories only.
this is what im talking about, this is so much worth the wait!!!!!!!
Haha! I knew I should wait! Suck it, Wes!
I'm all over this DVD like a sumo wrestler at buffet.
This SE was fully expected as everyone knew, but it's coming out much sooner than I expected. Awesome!

Do we think this will be a branching kind of arrangement?
Or Theatrical on one disc, Extended on another, with various special features spread throughout?

Hmmm...surprised this is making it out this year. I wasn't really expecting it till sometime Q1 or even Q2 '06.
I could wait for this DVD if it came out late next year.......

That's a very good question. Given the length of the two versions, if they put one each on a disc, they really need to make it a three disc set with all the extras on the third disc in order to make the best use of bits. Otherwise I have a feeling it's not going to look too good. Might want to hang on to the first released disc after all. The branching would make more sense from a storage point, but studios tend to shy away from doing that since some players have problems with it. My guess is the theatrical on one dual layer disc with most of the extras, and the extended on the second disc with the remaining extras. And all of it overly compressed to hell.

I think that it would be former. The recently released Gladiator: Extended Cut, which runs 153 minutes (theatrical) and 171 minutes (extended), included both versions on single, dual layer DVD. Of course, it did not include DTS because of the movies' running time. Since Sin City is shorter movie, I'm sure that Miramax can include both versions and DTS in one DVD w/o sacrificing video quality.

I don't get it. What's with the art? What exactly is going on here? Directing School? A Non-stop party? Cooking school? Wow, they're really throwing everything in there.
I am so buying this.
I'm glad I held off on the edition out now.

You know, I could do without the graphic novel being included, or at least for them to release a version minus the graphic novel, as a) I already own it (and have since it's original release), and b) it's just driving up the price needlessly for those who already own the book or who have no interest in owning it to begin with. Also, the crowd reaction commentary is a total wank, and an utter waste of space on the disc. It's one of those things that I'm sure seems like a great idea to the people involved, but seriously, who's going to use that feature?
Still, even with those minor complaints this is still a great set, and a definite must have as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait.
Sev.
