Whether that's the final artwork or not (probably not), I still can't wait to get Skyfall on Blu-ray next year!! The best James Bond film since Casino Royale and Goldfinger, IMO.

LOVE IT! Want it now!
Heard great things about this.
Having "007" twice in the cover is silly
Honestly I just didn't care for this. I LOVED Casino royale and thought this would be a welcome after the disappointing Quantum of solace. It just didn't do it for me. It had its moments but its just not the film I was expecting. It also becomes predictable and routine in its last 20 minutes or so. I don't know if I saw the same movie as most the critics who loved it. I WANTED to love this so bad but just couldn't get into it. I'd like to tell you I'm anticipating the next one but now I just don't care either way.
Even if it was an improvement over the last film, it still ended up being a disappointment for me. Overall it just didn't feel like a Bond film for me. I'm not asking for something campy or anything like that... What about the Bond girls? They make classic Bond, yet there was nothing memorable about them here, they didn't add anything to the story. Like what was Eve's purpose in the movie? She wasn't his love interesting and her she didn't have any chemistry with Bond. As for Severine, her character appeared for like 20 minutes....
Ingredients for an epic film. But an extremely weak plot and an undeveloped villain made it difficult to care about the final outcome.

Almost as silly as having '50 Years' and 'Bond Will Return' on the same screen at the end of the film. I still wonder whether they're hoodwinking us and literally won't release another Bond film for 50 years... just to mess with us.

I don't see why everyone thinks this is the best Bond ever. I had serious problems with the timeline in this film.
Anyway, as much as I liked that picture of the poster (as long as it was horizontal), I think it's lame for the DVD/blu-ray cover.
Besides, I don't need a case since there is an open slot for the blu-ray in the Bond 50 box set. I wonder if they will just sell me the blu-ray and no case. LOL!

For the most part, 2012 has been a year of godawful blockbusters ("The Dark Knight Rises", "John Carter", ect...). So I'm really appreciative that this was as good as it was. Hopefully "The Hobbit" will be as good to help salvage the rest of the year.
i agree w/ those saying it didn't really feel like a bond film. it was ok though but not "amazing" or anything. i loved having more Judy Dench in this (i don't remember her being in the other this much but i may just be forgetting). i think the Severine role was a total waste. when her part was over i thought, "no way" not because i loved the character but because the whole role seemed like an afterthought. i was also bummed that awesome Naomie Harris's part wasn't more important/bigger.
but i DO like Craig in the role (he's awesome and 1000% HOT!). i actually found the opening credits visuals coupled with Adele's Skyfall song to be the best part of the movie (i'm not bashing the movie).

I'm glad that this is Dench's last Bond - she was an unnecessary carry-over from the Brosnan era and when Craig took assumed the role, it should have been a completely clean slate.
Dench is a great actress, but her inclusion in GoldenEye was to address the changing times that were happening outside of the Bond film bubble and they did that and should have moved on after Die Another Day. Would any UK governmental department still have a 77 year-old person in their employ (given the shifting of retirement age in the UK, that will probably become reality eventually...)?
This niggle aside, I enjoyed the film a great deal - it's not my favourite Bond, but it's certainly hugely entertaining.

I'll say this. If you were to take all of Bond's actions in this movie at face value, you'd be hard pressed to find a good reason to keep him on as an agent.
SPOILERS!
- Deliberately goes MIA for months after getting shot off a train. I had no idea getting him to give up was that easy!
- Allows assassins to kill innocents and their targets before engaging them. Don't depend on him to save your life.
- Will wait until a beaten woman is murdered in cold blood (which he doesn't give a c**p about) before engaging the bad guys. Don't depend on him to save your life.
- Deliberately fights heavily armed forces with crude weapons. He'll call for back up the first sign of trouble, but he'll be danged if he calls in for help of any sort when fighting the same bad guys again.
- Uses his boss as bait and gets her killed as a result. Remember what I said about not depending on him to save your life?
Yeah. Bond is actually terrible at his job in this movie, and this is the movie that has movie goers cheering that "BOND IS BACK!". Yeah. When this Bond falls off a train, he quits. When Roger Moore's Bond falls off a train, he'll hitchhike to stay on target.

HAHAHAHA!! That's pretty good. Didn't think of any of those. My biggest problem is the timeline. Bond is presumed dead why didn't Silva go after M immediately? Why did he wait? He couldn't have possibly know Bond was dead. How long was Bond "dead" for? A few weeks, months? Someone told me that it was 2 months. I don't remember hearing that in the film but I guess it is possible. So they were able to sell a flat, a house and en entire gun collection in 2 short months??? How did he live for 2 months without accessing his bank accounts?

I was wondering about this myself. Why not sell just the disc for box set owners and save all that packaging that will be tossed anyway. I'm also hoping the design on the disc matches the other in the set.

I'm tempted to assert that most of these claims are nitpicking for the sake of it, but Jeyl brings up some totally valuable points in regards to the contrivances of the plot. Certainly, Skyfall doesn't stand up to scrutiny after the initial viewing (the bizarre gay panic at the middle point of the film and the audience's reaction might inspire me to write a paper), but it's leagues ahead of the Brosnan and Moore Bond films.

These aren't points that are buried deep in the film that are irrelevant to the overall story, these are deliberate actions done by the lead character that ruin the movie for me. The film keeps giving us different moments that showcases how unreliable and inadequate Bond is, but the story keeps telling us that he's still the best of the best. Based on what? That he killed the bad guy in the end? Silva was 'this' close to literally killing himself before Bond threw a knife into his back. What is there to root for in this Bond?

Jeyl, I would contend that the film is asking you to root for Bond because he represents the last man standing of the golden days of British Imperialism. Remember those good ol days when the sun never set on the British Empire? Now we have bureaucrats and officials getting in the way — a man like Bond is what we need, a man of (in)action who kills pretty much indiscriminately.

Did the Golden Days of the British Empire suck as much as Bond did in this film?

I enjoy this thread and very valid points about Bond's behavior in this movie even though I did enjoy it (it is just not in my favorite list of James bond films).
amazon has a newer cover now.

Agreed.
Agreed.
I hope that they will release this movie with an expanded aspect ratio to mimic its IMAX release. There's no excuse to NOT do it. They filmed in a larger aspect ratio AND released it in a larger aspect ratio (1:90:1) for digital IMAX. I hope they will release it in either 1:90:1 or at least 1:78:1 for the HDTV.
If you agree with me, let your voice be heard and tell the company.

I agree with Jeyl.
If your idea of a godawful blockbuster was the dark knight rises, you have absolute s**t for taste.
Also this was a GREAT movie. Nice to see know nothings pretend it was s**t now.

loved everything about this movie, EXCEPT for the terrible CGI komodo dragons... those graphics made me cringe. Thankfully there wasn't much CGI throughout the rest of the film!
DAMMIT the spine doesn't match the other 007 boxes
I highly doubt that we're going to see a 1:78:1 aspect ratio that we were given in digital IMAX. They didn't do it for "Prometheus" or the climax in "The Amazing Spiderman." And 2:35:1 keeps "Skyfall" consistent with the rest of the Bond films, not that it's a proper excuse to NOT expand the aspect ratio. I would much prefer a 1:78:1 ratio. It makes the film more immersive.
I saw a short video on the IMAX DMR process. They actually sit down with the directors and/or producers of the films and enhance/optimize each bit of sound and image for their digital IMAX screens, and this is AFTER the film completely finished. So more often then not, we'll get the pre-IMAXed version.
