Smallville (US - DVD R1 | BD RA)
Warner Home Video announces DVD and Blu-ray releases of the 8th season
Title: Smallville (IMDb)
Starring: Tom Welling
Released: 25th August 2009
SRP: $59.98 (DVD)
Further Details:
Warner Home Video has announced 6-disc DVD ($59.98) and 4-disc Blu-ray ($79.98) releases of Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season for the 25th August. Quote: There’s a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There’s a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is. But Jimmy Olsen was on the scene of one of the do-gooder’s exploits, and he snapped a blurred photo of the hero in superspeed action – a hero everyone now calls the Red-Blue Blur. Red-jacketed, blue-shirted Clark Kent draws closer to his Superman destiny in the exciting 22-episode, 6-disc Season 8 of Smallville. Another Kryptonian destiny also takes shape. Davis Bloome begins to realize he is Doomsday. His mission on Earth: kill Clark Kent. So many new events (will Jimmy and Chloe’s marriage last?), so many new faces (Tess Mercer, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy among them!), so many state-of-the-art effects – so don’t miss a single thrill-packed moment!

Much better cover (and plot) than the last season. However, this season didn't have as much to do with Lois as it did with Chloe, or Doomsday, so... why is Lois on the cover?

Because she's hot.
I have yet to see seasons 2 through 8, so I gather from you that this series does the character far more justice than possibly any other show, right?
Will he ever don the classic costume or do you all think they leave that to the last 5 minutes of the entire series?

Whoever's playing Lois Lane makes getting back into Smallville a good idea.
What happened with Lana and Lex?

1) The show suffers from embarrassing, cringe-inducingly melodramatic writing (a lot of it BAD), as well as obnoxiously repetitive and drawn out plotting. Calling this justice is a stretch.
But if you can stomach the stuff, it's fun. I couldn't take any more of it after a while, but clearly there are still folks who are able to overlook these things or feel differently about them.
I still don't think "justice" is the word, though.
2) They said from the beginning "no flight, no tights," but since the creative team has changed...it could end up different. I'd suspect not though.

This season got a greater case of the lame then any of the previous seasons, that they promised us a Doomsday fight and then give us one that last approximately 45 seconds was just sad.
Michael Rosenbaum left at the end of last season, as did Kristen Kreuk. Neither of them were pleased at the direction their characters took. Kristen will not return. Michael has consented to return for the series finale -- if they want him.
This was a good season. I enjoyed it. I did miss Lex, though.
Will purchase.

Kristen Kreuk returned for 5 episodes in Season 8.
This season was the best in years. The only thing that was lame was the Lana episodes. But still this was a very stellar season.
And i agree Lois Lane(Erica Durance)is very hot indeed

I thought the season started out great, but kind of fell flat towards the end. Lots of clumsy and bad episodes towards the end. Erica Durance once again only appeared in 12-13 episodes even though she is technically a series regular.
Big reveal in the final episode that I thought was kind of lame.
Hopefully now with season 9 being announced as the final season, we can now finally have the story move forward with Clark actually becoming Superman.

Erica Durance has been playing Lois since season 4.

Haven't finished S7...another addition to my collection nevertheless. Let's be honest, it will never be S3 again...
Actually there is plans going out with the big number a 10th season to end it all in a legendary way
I just read the synopsis for the eighth season and I can't help but think the series should end soon because if someone can only take a blurry image of blue and red in this era (remember: Youtube, Google, etc.) is somewhat weak for a photographer to keep his job... and to keep a sense of logic to the series as well. I mean you had that perfect moment where Jimmy could only take that kind of pictures in Superman Returns and he got beat by a kid who took far better ones with his cell along with the priceless line: It's a bird? It's a plane? No look, it'..."
I can't wait to catch up on this season. I have only seen two epsiodes of season 8.
"state of the art effects" ?
this isn't a knock against the show because it can be fun but the effects have never even been close to state of the art. they're alright for a television series and considering the low budget they probably have being on a smaller network but come on.....lol
anyway what i've always wondered is, if clark is meeting all these people and experiencing all these events that he's only encountered through many years as an adult in the comics, then whats gonna happen when this clark becomes an adult? he'll be bored.

Clark runs at super-speed, the "blurring" is actually the colours of his red jacket and blue jeans, not him.

What about those 5 Ep in the middle of the season with Kristen Kreuk.
Kristen Kreuk left to do that box office smash of a movie Street Fighter...
That was a good career move. lol
