Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (US - DVD R1 | BD RA)
Disney provides us with final package artwork for the upcoming releases
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has provided us with final artwork for 2-disc DVD ($29.99) and Blu-ray & DVD Combo ($39.99) releases of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The 2-disc DVD will arrive in stores from the 24th November. The Blu-ray Combo release however will arrive more than a month earlier on the 6th October. The extra material has yet to be unveiled I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details shortly. For now though, here's our first look at the official package artwork:

What a BAD photoshop work they did on this, the dvd cover its just terrible, but the overlay job on the 2 blu-ray covers(one of them should be a early artwork) its pretty horrible too.
In the 2nd blu cover looks like the movie its about the villain, snow white looks so secondary. :S

i like disney's idea of including the dvd with the blu-ray but that begs the question, why even sell the dvd on its own? i'm sure it'll only be a slight difference in price so wouldnt people just get the two format version?
and how come there are 2 different covers for the combo? "includes dvd + blu-ray" and then "includes blu-ray + dvd" ? did they really waste time and effort and materials to make two different packages for the exact same contents?

I'm sure there are still plenty of people who don't care about blu-ray at all, so why would they want an extra disc they wouldn't even use? It's kind of like getting a free boat with your new car if you live in the desert; yeah, it's free and it may only cost a bit more, but what are you going to do with it?
By the way, I'm really excited about this release. I sold my original DVD months ago in anticipation of this title.

Far from my favorite Disney classic (that would be a tie between Lady and the Tramp and Jungle Book), but still a classic nonetheless...Now if Disney would just release a new edition of Hercules, their last great feature in my opinion ( Mulan and Tarzan were just merely good), my collection would be complete.
I guess I just don't understand people's way of thinking when they say things like, "I'm sure there are still plenty of people who don't care about blu-ray at all..." That's like people who looked at the invention of electricity and said, "Why would I want THAT when I have candles. They work perfectly good."

Given the quantities of DVDs I have, I am not giving up DVDs anytime soon. And by the way, your allegory of electricity to candle is a bit overkill. Considering there still are quite a few titles that hasn't made it to DVD (and other titles that probably won't make it to Bluray for quite a while), I'll stick to DVD.
Oh, and I find this re-re-re-release pointless, since I already have the first two-discer of Snow White (and isn't too hard to find either on amazon or ebay).
Looking forward to Fantasia. 8-)

Interesting that neither the DVD nor the Blu-Ray have the "Platinum Edition" title on them. I don't think Disney is giving up the title yet since Fantasia is supposed to be one in 2010, so I wonder why this film doesn't have it. Maybe it's because Snow White already has been a Platinum DVD.
Nice!!! A DVD + blu-ray combo and a blu-ray + DVD combo!!! Lots of options to choose from!!!

Electricity? Almost spit my coffee out when I read that.
Electricity? Really? Blu-Ray is that big of a breakthrough? What happens to your Blu-Ray discs when the next big thing comes? Are you going to say "Why would I watch BR when I have this next shiny new way to watch [insert title here]?"
No offense, Dave, but... really?
I am not in the position to buy a BR player, and will not be any time soon. It costs money to buy a bigger TV, a BR player and the discs.
I'm not interested, even if I could afford it. There are too many SD DVDs yet to watch, buy and anticipate. DVD is alive and well in my household.
On topic: What is this? The third DVD release of Snow White? Just curious.

My transition to Blu Ray is inevitable so I'll get the dvd/blu ray combo, just like the pinocchio edition. i think its a good idea, and especially if parents have kids with a dvd player in their rooms, etc, odds are they aren't going to have blu rays in their rooms.
Glad to see this being released though, wasn't fortunate enough to get a copy of the first special edition that sells on ebay for insane amounts.

Is this part of the "Platinum Edition" Collection? I just changed to Blu-Ray and am definitely getting the Blu-Ray Edition (DVD+Blu Ray Edition) so the cases will match with all the other Platinum DVDs. But if its not part ill be getting the Version in the Blu - Ray case. The question is "Is it part of the Collection or not?"
"INCLUDES DVD + BLU-RAY" "INCLUDES BLU-RAY + DVD"
And the difference is...? Pointless, Disney. Absolutely pointless.

Even monkeys can design better covers.

The only difference is one comes in Standard DVD Packaging and the other comes in the Blu-Ray Packaging, thats about it.

And how long do we have to wait for the Region 2 release?
The only people who wouldn't care about BLU-RAY are A) those without an HD TV, and B) Those who have a ton of DVDs and refuse to give them up. Yes, if you are without an HDTV, there is no point in owning anything BD, but if it's the whole DVD issue, no one is telling you to replace your entire bloody collection. There's something called "dvd upconversion."
And finally to those stating that Blu-ray barely makes a difference in quality over DVD... YOUR DEAD WRONG.

This is sadly the worst platinum art work yet (It's not credited though), which is such a pity cause most of them are great. I preferred the 2001 cover, which sadly I don't own. I will be getting this hopefully since it's one of my many favorite Disneys and the first movie I ever saw and holds a special place in my heart.
The Blue-ray one is a bit better but still not as good as it should be.
I just hope the rerelease of Beauty and The Beast (which is my favorite Disney movie) will be better.

Ewww. That doesn't even look like Snow White, aside from the dress. Whoever drew that is just horrible. They couldn't get the guy who drew the cover for Pinocchio ? That cover looked just like him. Oh, I'll still get it, but the cover's bad.
There are 2 other versions coming too, one "ultimate" ed that has a fancy book, pin badges and a book for like $270 and a plush toy set for $55
I hate all three of these covers , they're dreadful , however , of the three I prefer the second version best!
Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs was Disney's launching pad into full length feature animation , and therefore, as such it deserves far better Cover Art than these lack lustre efforts!

it may be just me...but the one that says dvd & blu ray looks like a slip cover. but now that i think about it, doesn't disney release 3 versions of dvd's now? a regular dvd, a regular dvd w/ digital copy, and a blu ray.
A winner for me.
Even if you do not have a HD set it may be worth getting BD now because you will eventually upgrade. It will be a few years before the next big thing comes out...

the tagline "INCLUDES BLU-RAY + DVD" needs to GO asap! Its a complete cover-destroyer

Well, we do need to know whats included when we buy it. All dvd's have it on the cover.

Let me go on record and say I don't care about Blu-Ray.
It's merely inferior stop gap technology designed to take even more of your money and those who've invested so much will at some point regret their investment. The cost is hardly justified by the improvement in picture quality. Maybe when the next jump in techology comes along it will be worth investing. Blu-Ray is simply not a big enough step to warrant the investment.
Also, why bother buying a Blu-Ray when you'll simply be able to download/rent it for pennies when an on-demand service will send it directly to your TV.
Personally, I like the artwork. Disney does a decent job just about every time. The third version, not so much. It should focus on Snow White and not the Witch but it is still vivid and very cool looking.

i think one can decipher to whats dvd and blu-ray. and Sleeping Beauty nor Pinocchio have that that insanely gigantic bar in their frontal cover as Platinum collection.

Problem is, there haven't been a great gap of time between DVD/Bluray. VHS to DVD was a GREAT advancement. HUGE. But DVD to Bluray, not so much.
People were so reluctant on DVDs for a long time. I doubt Bluray will really catch on to the mass-market, which is why the quantity's of DVDs are still great in numbers. Besides, once again, there are still plenty of titles that hasn't made it to DVD.

Seriously, those 3 are truly dreadful!
I understand Disney's "all-ages", family approach (although why they think they have to be so awfully ugly is quite beyond me), but since it's quite clear for all involved that there's also a strong consumer segment of grown-up animation lovers buying their discs, I really think they should consider providing some kind of limited edition (as in print number, not price hike) for those of us who do not need the cover to be all-colorful and shiny-happy, using classic, vintage images like these:

They are offering separate releases just to acommodate those who prefer the DVD packaging and those who prefer the blu-ray packaging, so I guess adding another one would not be that much of a stretch, and it would be an easy way to make many of their customers much happier.

What's Disney's Fastplay? Is that an option to skip all those annoying trailers at the beginning, all 20 off them? They put it on the cover like it's a special feature! :|
Did anyone notice that the prince and his horse are both missing legs on the 2-Disc DVD? I seriously doubt that these are 100% final. God I seriously hope they change the cover with the witch centered. It makes no sense whatsoever. Some think the mirror is a hologram, but what would it be a hologram of? And as someone stated above, that "Includes Blu-ray + DVD" definitely has to go. I'm crossing my fingers that its just a temporary "title" that was slapped on to help the public differentiate the two. But, then again, who knows what the hell Disney is doing.
