Mel Brooks is so overrated and this film is an embarrassment.

I remember cringing while watching this "comedy" when I was 16 years old.
I just happened to throw it on at friends place the other night. It was like watching a cheesy student film.

COMPLETELY disagree....but respectfully so. Just goes to show that everybody's comedic barometer measures slightly different.

Mel Brooks is "overrated" LOL
This is one of the best parody movies ever. If you don't get it, then you just don't get it....
This is a classic. One of the funniest movies ever made
Dang. I just got the regular version not too long ago. But that's alright. This is one of the very few movies that I won't mind buying again. I love it.
Huge thumbs up to this new system of including an SD-DVD as opposed to a dumb digital copy.
Don't have in on DVD. Glad I waited.
Lonestar!
Day one purchase at ludicrous speed!
Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis): "You have the ring, and I see your Schwartz is as big as mine. Let's see how well you handle it."
[watching himself crash into the ship's console while fast-forwarding through Spaceballs: The Movie video cassette]
Dark Helmet: "No, no, no. Go past this. Pass this part. In fact, never play this again."
Dark Helmet: "Say goodbye to your two best friends, and I don't mean your pals in the Winnebago."

*Gasp*
I LOVE this movie. I already have the latest special edition with the raised-textured slip cover, so I see no need to upgrade.

I'm going to have sell my DVD copy of this movie to get the Blu-Ray.
so that Standard DVD version isn't that the first "Spaceballs" DVD?
"I knew it!I'm surronded by A-holes"
"what's a matter colonel, you chicken?"
and who can forget..."I'm your father's roomate's cousin's neighbor's friend."What does that make us?" Absolutely nothing"

Spaceballs had a regular release in 2000, then a 2-Disc Collector's Edition in 2005 (that cover is close to this one).

Will be buying.
I absolutely hated this movie.
PASSSSSSSS!! ("Sounds like steam escaping!" Sorry wrong movie) I bought the "Special" Edition for 4 (4!) bucks at Wal-Mart the other day. Had to knock over a fattie in a Rascal to get to it. Take that Scroob!
sorry to be a Comic Book Guy but....
just had to slightly correct Cliff23 re the quotes...
"What's the matter Colonel Sanders?...Chicken?!"
Dark Helmet: I am your father's mother's sister's cousins's former roomate...
Lonestar: So...What does that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing! Which is what you are about to become!
( shortly after during their Schwartz battle, they knock the Boom Mic Operator
over accidentally )

I love Spaceballs as much as anybody, but I don't know if I'll upgrade. I bought the special edition last year and I've been really happy with it. But do I love the film enough to get the blu-ray just because it has the special anti scratch coating on the disc ? It looks to have the same features as the special edition does. What would make this a double dip for me would be a sort of MST3K shadow style commentary, a better making of documentary, and for them to fix the overscan problem the movie has when viewed on a regular 4:3 tv.
one of my favourite comedies ever,it shall be mine!
"just plain Yogurt"
Wonder when Spaceballs 2: The Quest for More Money is coming out?
Classic film.
