I think I will nedd to inspect both ladies before I see their movies...
I have the bare bones DVD of both species and species II so I doubt I will upgrade, the films aren't *that* good.
I think I'll wait to watch species 4 on TV after seeing the drop in quality for Part 3.

How about Alien vs Predator vs Species vs Freddy vs Jason vs Michael Myers vs Norman Bates vs Leatherface vs Shaun vs Bratz?

The 1997 release of Species in the snapper and later Amaray case contained a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It was a flipper with both widescreen and P&S versions as well. The 2004 release includes DD 5.1, DTS 5.1, and two commentary tracks; this version is the one included in the trilogy set.

Same disc, same release; they just changed the case from snapper to Amaray in between production runs. So yeah, I did mean third release.
If you want to get even more anal about releases here, it's actually the sixth release--the four you mentioned, plus the trilogy collection, plus the double feature Alien/Species disc. If you took it a step further you could include the Blu-ray and UMD versions too, bringing the grand total to eight. Don't get me started on the multiple laserdisc and VHS releases...

The LD contained a 10 minute behind the scenes featurette which has still never seen the light of day since.
It looks like the 2nd included DVD is just the bonus disc from the box set, which I cleverly retained when I sold the other films. I now have that bonus disc and the Blu-ray so I think I'm set. yes, Spiecies 4 looks putrid, but I'll probably Netflix it anyway.

Alien Vs Predator Vs Species Vs Freddy Vs Jason Vs Bratz...... oh yeeah!!!
Hot naked alien chicks looking to mate. Sounds like a nerds dream to me and I'm cool with that. The first Species was great and then a steady downhill slide from there. Is there an unrated version of Species? And when they say unrated, is it more naked alien chicks, blood and guts or both? Voyeurs and Sci-Fi freaks alike need to know.
JeffDJ, indeed, Natasha Henstridge never wore that dress. It's simply an "upgrade" the studios do whenever they want the audience to forget about that "1995" feel. If Natasha had worn this, you bet your life more pics would flow the net than this... and the movie would've been that much edgier.
Finally, a respectable CE for this movie! I still only have the VHS of this movie, so I'll definitely be getting this. But could they not have found a better pic of Henstridge for the cover art? Did she even wear that dress in the movie??

Retail will be $26.98 for part IV??? Wow.
I have the other three, so I will get it, but not at that price.

Nice extras for Species, but I hope Species IV isn't as bad as Species III (which should have never been made).
"Orion had nothing to do with Species it was an MGM/UA movie."
As for the CE edition, we'll certainly going to have a new one when Species V hits stores sometime in the near future and when Species VI gets out, we'll get a Species: Collector's Super Deluxe Ultimate Diamond Edition... well, I could be wrong about a word or two...

so i wonder if part 2 will receive any kinda special treatment, i assume 3 will just be left as is (though probably a new cover to match these ones) because i think it already had a few extras and stuff.
interesting to note, part 1 gets 2 discs and its pretty loaded and only 19$...but part 4 is one disc and barely has anything and its 27$.
gotta love dvds...lol
oh and part 3 had a pretty open ending with the girl living and going on the run a la Hulk but this new movie seems to be following a new creature and not her.

I like that artwork better then the current CE going to upgrade on the first film.
I can't wait for "Alien vs. Predator vs. Speciess"
Let's see who wins that one!

yeah there was a 3 movie box set released when part 3 came out, it came with a 4th disc with extras...so this is the first time part 1 is released as a 2 disc CE...though i'm not sure if any extras were ported over.
i just own the original bare bone releases of the first 2 movies.....so should they make a new box set...if its a cheap price i'll probably get it cuz i like having full series even though part 3 was terrible..
but hey i own all 7 freddy movies and all 10 jason movies plus their VS. movie....so i dont mind having some c**p if it means getting the whole series..lol

4?!?!?! Milking it a little aren't they? I agree, it looks softcore porno style.
Yes, they upgraded the original realease in 2004 to coincide with Species III on video.
It was anamorphic with DTS and commentary. But that's it.
I guess when Species 5 comes out we'll get the HD release!

Has there been a CE of this yet in R1? I don't think there has...
I've never picked it up, but I remember watching it in the theatre, after reading about it in the first issue of Fangoria I ever owned...

I like this movie...but how many versions of the film do we need? Luckily, I don't own the movie yet so I'll pick this up.
Geezzz...the 4th movie looks like a porno!!
Don't know about R2, but this will make the third release in R1. The last release came out just before Species III was released on DVD in late 2004.
The first one is a fun sci fi popcorn movie. Species 2 was trashy fun. Species 3 was total and complete c**p. I don't expect much better from Species 4.
Serves to remind me how utterly gorgeous Natasha Henstridge was (is?). Wasn't there a CE released a while back, or was that just in R2?
Wow, The Awakening looks like a real classic...
That artwork reminds me of the X-Files...
