I remember this was one of the first DVDs I bought. Still have it. Really good movie from what I remember. Then again I was like 11 or 12 when this came out....my taste in movies has changed drastically.
Never even heard of this for some reason. Might rent.
I'll have to pass on Sphere. It was an okay movie, but not great. I've seen Dustin Hoffman in better movies than this (Rain Man and Kramer vs. Kramer, anyone?).
I just watch this on cable the other night, it is OK.
What I remember of this movie was pretty good, even with what I consider to be the gold standard of "What the Hell is happening?" endings.
This was okay, but not really worth a blu-ray upgrade. Wow though, this movie was such a b*****dization of a really amazing book.

Im truly not understanding Warner. The New World and Dead Calm get no Spanish subs, and this does? Its like their playing some sort of "Eni meeni mini mo" at who gets Spanish language tracks and who doesn't.
Interesting well made film with a lot of suspense but dreadfull ending as mentioned above, which for me ruins it completely but I imagine stays faithful to the Michael Crichton book?
The fact that this movie helped produce the superb progressive house tune 'Odessi - moments in Space' by sampling the countdown computer is enough for me!

I feel it's under-rated, just like Congo. It's not excellent, but it's got a good cast, some good moments, a memorable score, etc.
I wouldn't re-buy it, though. Not yet.

Congo would have been a lot more fun had Bruce Campbell been in it all the way through.

If I remember Dead Calm never had Spanish subtitles on DVD (Region 1). Now the same thing happens with the Blu-ray. Warner does not have a clear policy on this matter. Warner??????????

a no nothing movie that was just so boring...
Yeah I’d buy it again on region B when it ever gets a UK release? It’s a kinder relaxing exciting flick and wow in Dolby six-track True none of this dts nonsense!
The sound will have lower lows over the region 2 DVD 25fps speed-up yuck! 24fps yes that’s how it should be!
