Now that's annoying...
They could easily have released this as an SE when it first came out. They'd already released TMP in SE form by that stage. Blatant rip off again...

The original disc already had a director's commentary, four featurettes, deleted scenes and a photo gallery. What more can they add? Aside from DTS and the usual Okuda text commentary, I can't think of much else that might be on this new set. As said above, they should have just gone the full blown SE route when it was first released.
I stopped buying these SE disks after number 4. I'll wait until the hi-def versions are released.
With HD-DVD and bluray right around the corner, I'm going to have a hard time buying any big dvd title until after the new format is here.

Even though this was one of the worst movies they ever made, for the $15 or whatever this will cost, I'll finish off my collection.
i liked this one. it has my fav actor Ron Perlman
Yeah, I never understood why they just didn't go with the CE route the first time. But then again, for those that had all the single-disc versions, I guess it wasn't that bad of an idea for a collector's sake.
Also they probably didn't have enough extras for this one at the time.

I consider each reissue carefully. Sometimes it is definitely worth the upgrade and sometimes having the bare bones edition is just fine. I suggest you guys do battle with the studios by using websites like DVD Answers. Simply sell your older editon on Ebay as soon as you learn about the upgrade. Many people aren't that sophisticated about their DVD purchases or simply don't care about a new edition. I have been able to get a pretty fair price for the dozens of older discs I have unloaded in anticipation of a re-release. This also works against the studios somewhat since it cannibalizes their sales. But these reissues are mostly about marketing... Most retailers do not have enough shelf space to carry all titles. These re-issued discs enable the studios to grab some frontage in mass retailers like Walmart or Best Buy. I have noticed that the prices on some of these discs drop dramatically in short order because demand is probably light. The recently re-released "12 Monkeys" has been available in my area for as little as $6.99! The two-disc "Field of Dreams" was recently $7.49. At those prices I really don't give a shit. So sell your old copy if you must and be patient and use these resources for information.
Well of course the coverart is no surprise but anyway this is one of my favorite Star Trek films and I can't wait to get it. It obviously failed because it was released very closely with LotR and that's Paramount's fault. I think that the movie is a perfect mix of Trek and action. It's the Wrath of Khan of the Next Generation. The single disc release was actually pretty good but there should def be new interviews and what not with this set. I can't wait to finish my Star Trek CE DVD set!
Well I knew this was coming so I held off buying the first release.
STAR TREK: NEMESIS (2002)
I actually enjoyed this film. I never really cared for the Star Trek TV series but I could easily sit through a movie, but the only movies I liked were the Next Generation films. So I only picked up STAR TREK: GENERATIONS, STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT, and STAR TREK: INSURRECTION Special Collector's Edition's and will ddefinatly be getting STAR TREK: NEMESIS- Special Collector's Edition. I also saw it you preorder it on amazon.com its like $13.99 and if you want the single-disc edition its $17.99 so I would wait a few months and get the 2-Disc Set, just an fye!
I know they cut 45 minutes out of NEMESIS. They only included 20 minutes of deleted scenes on the single disc edition. Maybe they will include more deleted scenes on the SCE.
Obviously the reason they didn't release this in a full blown CE right away was to do all the CEs in order.
Anyway, HELL YES!!!!! I can't wait to get this and finish my collection. I just offloaded my single disc edition of this. I just hope they keep the features from the single disc and add more. And have a directors commentary.
I am glad it is finally the last movie to get the CE treatment, I don't have to worry about double dipping anymore. And I actually really liked this film. I thought the dune buggy scene and Data flying through space to the other ship were pricless. Great action. Can't wait.

I bet they will include all the features from the first DVD and I bet they have features that they held back just for this release like the rest of the deleted scenes, some more documentaries, interviews with the cast for sure. Paramount usually makes decent Special Collector's Edition's for these Star Trek films. I do infact own the first DVD but since I own the rest I will pick it up. I liked the film so I don't mind spending another 15 dollars on it.
Is it just me but does the cover look like a superbit cover?
I got the original release but let a friend borrow it back in December and havent seen it since so at least I dont have to try and sell it on lol
I will pickup this SE to complete my collection when its released in the UK which will probaley be in 2006, just hope they include the trailers this time.

Kill Stuart Baird!
This could be the best Star trek movie, but Baird had not love for the franchise, like Nicholas meyer when he did Star trek VI. The end could be something awesome but even when the script is good, many scenes are poor at the moment to show the emotions of the characters, the end it's the worst way for "a generation's final journey"

Unless there are some great features on this, it is another pointless double-dip.
I figured they were not going to rerelease Nemesis and that was why they actually put deleted scenes, commentary, etc. on the single disc.

I am torn about the HD thing...I think I am going to just hold off indefinitely on it, and not buy ANYTHING in the HD formats until:
1)HDTVs improve and drop in price for the larger sizes, and
2)the HD winner is clear...I dont want to put a single penny down for one format until I KNOW that is going to be the standard. It would be pretty lame to have purchased movies only to find out some of them are going the way of the BetaMax...
What are you all going to do about the HD situation, in general?

Why Bother???
The only CE's worth owning are TMP and Kahn.

Who cares? Why lose sleep worrying about something that you have little if any control over. I will continue to purchase DVDs until a clear winner emerges in the HD wars. But since that is many years away, I doubt I will be faced with upgrading any time soon.

Early specs added. We'll bring you the full rundown shortly...
Yeah, sure, why not?
I upgraded and bought all the other CE's. I only wish that Paramount would offer the collector's box for the series the same way that New Line made the LOTR box available.
I hear that there might be a duel-format player (bluray and HDDVD), so it really doesn't matter who wins or loses.
If, for whatever reason, there is no duel-format player, I'll wait until which ever format wins, then buy it.
I'm leaning towards HD-DVD however. The DVD disk cost just as much as current DVD's to make, and the HD-DVD players could be built cheaply also. I think if the HD-DVD guys where smart, they would release HD-DVD players and HD-DVD disk as soon as they can, and keep them around todays prices. If that happens, bluray can kiss it goodbuy. With a minimum lead of several months, HD-DVD could win the format war before it even begins. Now, I did say "if they where smart". Since up to this point, they have showed the opposite, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm never really watch Star Trek and I only saw this one for a birthday party. I didn't really like it, but I got it for my birthday like nine months after it came out.
The special features seem promising as usual. Should be another great release from Paramount.
Awwwww, James Doohan who played Scotty died today.
A moment of silence for James Doohan. He was awesome.
The deleted scenes and other extras in this CE are different from the first edition. I think I'll hang on to my copy.
Man, I can't believe James Doohan is gone. He was a great actor. Brought Scotty to life so well. Here's to you...
About the specs. I notice they don't have any commentaries, but you know they will have at least the text one. And Stuart Baird did one on the single disc release, so there is no reason not to have that one. I know this is early specs, so I am sure they will appear. I also hope they have the deleted scenes from the last on as well, cause this says it is new ones. Other than that, the specs look awesome as usual. I really can't wait. I pre-ordered this the second it was announced.

Actually, the last four featurettes that are labelled "original featurettes" were on the single disc. Only the deleted scenes seem to be absent as well as the commentary.
