The actual remastered PICTURE QUALITY on this set is terrific, but the new effects by an 'in-house' team (CBS Digital) are a mixed bag unfortunately. While it was a worthy project to update the effects of all 79 episodes for the 40th Anniversary of the show, it unfortunately seems to be a rushed effort with underfunded resources by the powers that be...with a lot of things untouched, which should have been enhanced, and some dodgy original effects left in sometimes. A pity, as a lot of the new stuff is an improvement and nicely done. Overall it's a missed opportunity to do this project justice.
A great site for regular updates and weekly videos/screenshots of this ongoing project is www.trekmovie.com
Oh, and coqui2k...straight Star Wars rules too...

You f**kin' Trekies are gonna be w**king all over your Enterprise outfits aren't you? I second the ruling of Star Wars.
Why would I walk all over my "Enterprise outfits"?
Oh and Cervantes, you could just goto Startrek.com

I haven't seen gay Star Wars, does it involve Luke and Obi Wan doing stuff to each other with their Lightsabers?
"Luke, use the Force"
"Luke, I am your Father" (He might as well have said "who's ya daddy" )

Nothing like a Star Wars/Star Trek announcement to bring out the silly comments.
Nic Mall...I could, but TrekMovie.com is the better site.
No no no, it's too white, too plain. Startrek.com is perfect.
And Chris, you talkin' to me?
And Chris, you talkin' to me?
Generally yes, but not with regard to the silliness.
Good cos I'd have to break your head if you were :p
I'll think of an innuendo later.
I can't believe no one is complaining about that SRP. That is INSANE.
Because we're not stupid and don't take the SUGGESTED RP as gospal. Anyone who pays that is a moron.
True...but the US set is half that MSRP. Unless a Brit retailer is going to take 75% off, it's a big rip
Should be better quality transfers for the UK. It's not double-sided.
I don't understand why people feel the need to choose between Trek or Wars. I like both, I am a Trekker and a... Do we Star Wars fans have names? Nevertheless, there's no reason why you can't like both.

********
I thought the double sided thing was because it was HD-DVD on one and regular DVD on the other. Does that compromise on quality?

One day they will face the final frontier and bring the price down to something realistic - even when it hits the streets the price will be way too high...

The NA versions are DVD / HD DVD combo's. Dizagaox made an oopsie and got it wrong. No quality is compromised.

I know that you actually meant to say "Serenity," the feature that put the "prequels" to shame and Lucas in his place.

Too right about the price - that the SRP shouldn't be taken as gospel, that is. This set's already available for pre-order here in Finland and the price tag is pretty much the same as the regular DVD season sets when they first came out.
