Missed this when it ran theatrically. Everyone I spoke to, gave it rave reviews!
Honestly, my Star Trek Universe ended when Voyager got home & Data died in Star Trek Nemesis! I know his memories are in the B-4, but it is not the same!! I guess I will give this a try when it comes out!

Alongside "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," this movie definitely delivered the goods when it came to entertainment. And strangely enough, unlike most of Orci & Kurtzman's usual scripts (like the horrid "Transformers" movies), the script was solid for the most part. And this movie has Tyler Perry's best performance to date -- maybe he should stick to doing more "Star Trek" movies and less of his preachy Madea movies.
And this year was devoid of a lot of good and/or highly anticipated movies. After the humongous disappointment "Wolverine" was (and "Transformers 2" snagging the Worst Movie of the Decade Award), I didn't have much hope for this movie. But Abrams, the writers and actors nailed it. Can't wait for the sequel.

I thought it was fun, but surprisingly shallow. Of course, Spock would say this is entirely logical, given what passes for a summer blockbuster these days.
As someone who's only familiar with Star Trek from spoofs and the awesomeness that is William Shatner, I found this film to be pretty boring. I had no frame of reference for anything that happened and stopped caring about what was going on fairly quickly.
All I got from this movie is that the future is very, very shiny. I'll have to make sure to tone down my television's brightness or put on a pair of shades before watching this again.
I absolutely loved this movie! It's rare nowadays to have to wait for a DVD, but like many of you have said, it's sort of nice for a change to get to look forward to it. Hopefully the artwork is cool!

So sorry that this wasn't "Ernest Goes to Camp....in Space". I guess for you, no other film can ever achieve that kind of level of excellence, huh?

Do you know how to count dude? It's July right now... November is in LESS than 4 months...
Go to school or be a fool!
i think they meant 6 months between theatrical and home video release because it came out in May so it'll be 6 months when it hits dvd/blu. Because lately its usually a 3-4 month window between theatrical and dvd/blu.
Exactly.

Worst Star Trek movie since Nemesis. The engine room looks like it was filmed in my high school's basement.
The best movie of the year by far.

Shaky Cameras, gratuitous lens flare and a douche-bag for a lead character we're supposed to like didn't fit well for me at all.totally agree, luckily us real sci-fi fans have the Battlestar blu ray set coming out soon.

Your High School Basement looked like a power plant/ sewage plant? That is awesome!

Nest movie of the year so far. I saw it 5 times in the theater. Can't wait to get it on Blu ray.
Everyone I know who saw it loved it, one of the best Star Trek movies made to date. If you don't like this movie I'm not sure what kind of movie would make you happy because this was a fun ride start to finish.

Definite purchase. Definitely my favorite of all the major blockbusters that have been released this summer.
It's a long wait for the DVD release, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I'll wait for the de-lensflared old fogies edition, as I'm obviously not down with the 'yoof ov today'
Actually, I wouldn't even buy it then. This is pure summer action flick fodder, fill the multiplexes and ring the tills, without an ounce of integrity, intelligence, inspiration, and other words beginning with 'i'. I'm an original series fan of long standing, and this had nothing of the charm, elegance, or entertainment value of that. How this compares to the original series...
Well I had to re-evaluate my feelings for the Star Wars prequels, and in comparison to Abrams, George Lucas is a genius.

I thought this film had a better ending than "The Dark Knight," though I thought "Up" was better. I don't mean to repeat myself but where is "Up?"
One of my favorite films of the year. Yeah!

Then you must've not listened to the "This is not your father's Star Trek" bylines in the reviews for this movie. I am not a fan of the OS nor the movies or the various spinoffs (although "Voyager" had that Janeway factor), so I went to this movie with fresh eyes. I definitely liked what I saw, and the handheld cam approach gave it an immediacy and urgency to the pic.

This movie's plot was so incredibly lousy. But the cast of the USS Enterprise crew did such a fantastic job that I still have hopes for a superior sequel, because I want to see these guys interact some more. Just give them a better story next go 'round!
KARL URBAN = BONES. He was the best part of the movie by far.

Sorry, allow me to correct your misstatement. It should read "Best Star Trek movie since Wrath of Khan."

I think this film was incredibly well done and anyone that says anything diffrent is a hater! Personally I think it's the 1st big screen hit for JJ and his Fringe staff should be congratulated for reigniting this franchise.

i went to see this movie 3 times at the cinema i love trek and i can honestly say this is the best film to date will be getting the bluray asap
One of the best films of the summer (I seriosuly saw it 4 times) and I cannot wait to get the Blu-ray! It sounds packed with great extras and I hope they use that poster for the art too. I just can't believe we have to wait for mid-November to get this! I assumed that because it was an early May release we'd get it sometime in mid-September. Oh well, time does go by fast anyway.
Wonderful, wonderful film. Great cast and a lot of fun, wish the dvd was being released sooner!
No Director's Cut or Extended Edition?

We have the same birthday and that's what I was hoping for too.

I know. Now it's like "I just saw that movie a month ago. Oh wow it's on DVD next week already." It's nice to wait.

Quite a while to wait but usually good things come to those who wait....hopefully...
I wasn't a fan of Star Trek before this and I was expecting it to suck. But it was awesome. On a side note, I kind of hope they go with the artwork similar to the image at the bottom of the post. It's pretty nice looking.
