And its still in theaters too!
that was quick for an announcement...didn't it just come out a few weeks back
Just came out early this month...
It's a shame that people chose Rush Hour 3 over this. This truly is one of the better films of the summer. Heck of a lot of fun.

Even though it's announced early and just came out early this month it's still being released in December... thats still a ways away.
Damn Paramount!
This is quick!
This is quick!
Go see it in theatres...it needs support.
Damn that was very quick. Glad I didn't see that one in theaters.
i didn't really care for this one. but i agree, this is the quickest dvd announcement i've ever seen.
I loved this film -- a nice and intelligent throwback to the '80s style fantasy films. DeNiro and Pfeiffer stole the show, obviously and Pfeiffer is still hot even in her late 40s. And a great score by Ilan Eshkeri too.
And this film is still playing in 2,000 theaters nationwide, so go see it before it goes out and hits the second-run theaters (it's doing much better than "Black Snake Moan" but that's faint praise considering the budgets for both movies are vastly different). It needs all the monetary support it can get, but the DVD extras look pretty paltry -- no commentary by Matthew Vaughn or Neil Gaiman? And this should be released in HD as well.

Sure, it comes out in December. But already announcing a DVD for a big-budget movie that hasn't even been out for 3 full weeks is pretty bad and fast. You haven't even seen that happen with Skinwalkers or Underdog or Who's Your Caddy?
That aside, this movie still looked really lame. :/

It's much better than the trailers are letting on. Think of it as "The Princess Bride" meets "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" with a dash of "Hocus Pocus" and "Willow" thrown in. And Charlie Cox is a much more charismatic hero than, say, Orlando Bloom.
This was an awesome movie. Destined to become a classic. Reminded me a lot of The Princess Bride. Michelle Pfiffer? Amazing.
Whoa that was fast! really really fast!
I'll wait for the HD DVD exclusive!
Very good and entertaining film that deserved to do better at the box-office. Definitely getting it on dvd.
That was super-quick...
I have to admit that it was one of the movies I was looking forward to the most this summer, but after seeing it (opening weekend, just three weeks ago...) I have to say that it wasn't as good as I hoped.
Not having read the book, I guess I expected too much from it (i.e. to be the next Princess Bride), and it seemed like it lacked the heart and whimsy of that classic.
I agree that Michelle Pfieffer and Robert De Niro were great, but overall it left something to be desired.

I must echo this statement. Great film and utterly entertaining from beginning to end. See it in theaters before it's too late.

utterly fantastic film. One of the best films of this summer. I'm glad I saw it in theaters. I wouldn't mind seeing it again in theaters before the DVD release.
Still, even with the quick DVD turnaround, Paramount should've put more extras on the DVD. Heck, even the earlier duds such as "Shooter" and "Black Snake Moan" both got an commentary and this doesn't? An utter shame... unless the making-of featurette and blooper reel are entertaining, this seems like a disappointing platter of extras.
Oh well, it's worth it for me just for the movie itself -- and since it'll be released the week before Christmas, I know what to put on my wishlist.

This movie looked really, truly terrible. I don't know how anyone here was able to even sit through the whole thing.

I mean nothing by this, but did people actually think that this would be the next Princess Bride, as a mass? I wonder...

Did you see it? The advertisements made it look god awful, but it was a very entertaining movie. See it before passing judgment since so many people obviously thought it was great.

I just got back from this and I was very pleasantly surprised. A pretty fun movie, and it was actually quite humorous as well. I certainly wouldn't buy the DVD, but I'd recommend the film.
very good movie. Entertainment for the adults and youngsters as well !
People, don't you forget that Prince Bride wasn't a theatrical succes either !
It will be released (theatrical) late october in France, for the hollydays.
Paramoutn making efforts on the extras... YEA ! Now THAT would be fairytell strories ! lol !
I think...
SPOILER AHEAD ALERT
the scene with DeNiro dancing French Cancan in Dragqueen outfit is an instant classic !

Awww, no HD-DVD from Paramount? After such a fiasco you'd think they'd announce HD-DVD off the bat with every single film now.
. . . come back to the blu side . . .

I honestly think every major film studio should openly support both high-def formats just to play fair and then see what format sells better before taking sides when the whole format war mess started. Personally, I'm avoiding the high-def format and sticking to regular DVD, because the format war for me is just a niche market for me.
Although if Paramount supported both high-def formats again, I wouldn't buying the DVD and both high-def versions of "Stardust"... yeah I love the movie THAT much.

Already? I so wanted to see this in theatres!!!

This is a great film. Cool story, witty dialogue, and a superb cast with some great performances. Will definitely pick this up on day's release. Too bad this film isn't doing so well in theaters.
