That cover is great, except for the awkward ships pew pew'ing the pyramid
Probably a pipe dream in the short term because they are releasing this in connection with the new series, but I hope this signals a re-release of some of their other titles...and yes I am looking at you, Total Recall.
20 bucks says this is already on the remake table.
Might pick up this version.
I always liked the transfer on the old Blu-ray. The first release was the first Blu-ray disc I ever bought. 15 dollars almost a month before I even bought the player!!!
Still, if I read reviews that say it's a better transfer and I can get it for like 15 bucks or so, I'll think about it. having a 7.1 track is already looking REALLY good. This could be my first double dip Blu-ray

Great, I bought this at Target for $10 on Blu a couple weeks ago. Oh well. I'm happy with the one I have right now. :-D

Movie remake, i have been watching the series, but those kind of things don't stop studios from re-making them for the big screen. Or basicly re-making the beginning of the whole thing in movie-format.

There was big talk a while ago of doing a sequel with Spader and Russell where O'Neill returns to the planet to get Jackson after like ten years have gone by. It would have nothing to do with the (at the time) currently running SG-1
Please, please, please be Region Free.

yeah i remember reading about that. they probably feared confusion with the tv series or something. cuz people as a whole aren't too bright. lol

No, it was an awful idea to begin with. The TV series are far more popular than the movie, if they want to make a blockbuster movie, it should be based on SG-1/Atlantis/SGU.

:The Movie lol
Haha, 'Unlocked a UNIVERSE'. That is pretty pander-rific!
Anyway, might buy. If there are deleted scenes...probably a purchase. The old DVD was awful. The most compression artifacts I have ever seen on a Blu-ray. My heart sunk, because at that moment I knew....even hidef isn't immune to badly-compressed video.

Hopefully the new transfer isn't slathered with DNR.

Actually, it's a reference/tie-in to the upcoming (and massively hyped) 'Stargate Universe' TV series.
It looks like this release exists solely to cash-in on the new series' October launch, as they've even changed the original movie's logo to match the font used in SGU.

Now this I will have to pick up. As mentioned, you can get this right now on BluRay but it is basically the last DVD release put to BluRay. Glad to see they have created more extras (I hope the commentary on the last DVD release has not been eliminated however).
I'll hold off until news of the transfer. If anything I'll get it for the theatrical cut. I really dislike the extended edition.

It's the Cylons attack lol

I almost bought the old BD release a few days ago! I guess I'm going to wait for this one now.
so this realese is more like the OOP Artisan 2 Disk set(the prevous Blu-Ray was the 2nd disk of that set in the format).
May consider this but I will wait for the reviews of the picture quality

and they say a newly remastered transfer? so i take it the previous blu-ray wasnt so hot or something? so another reason to get it.
this movie still holds the record in my life for the loudest theatrical experience i've had. even with the better sound systems that have come after, even with IMAX....nothing has beaten this one...it was damn loud, my god it was awesome. lol
oh and i love how Stargate is now trademarked cuz of the show and they actually put the word "Movie" on the front cover. guess they didnt wanna confuse people in case they thought this was related to the series.
